The start to the 2021/2022 NFL regular season is just around the corner, which means another epic installment of Madden is on the horizon. Over the past several weeks, EA has been dropping hints about what fans can expect for Madden 22. One of the most recent discoveries was announced by EA yesterday, stating how each team will have a unique home-field advantage (M-factor) in Madden 22. To go into further detail, we have done a deep dive on what’s to come and outlined some of the best home-field advantages in Madden 22.
Home-field Advantage in Madden 22
With this new home-field advantage feature, every team in the game will have some additional firepower for home matchups. For example, some advantages include having more stamina during plays, while others may introduce more intricate perks.
Below we have come up with what we believe are the most dangerous home-field advantages in Madden 22.
- New Orleans Saints (“Who Dat”) – On away team 3rd and 4th down conversions, a random receiver will run a random route when set up during presnap.
Without a doubt, this will be one of the more frustrating things to deal with in Madden 22 and something that would never happen in a real-life game. No NFL player has ever forgotten a play because he was “on the road,” so it seems relatively unfair to give this advantage to the Saints. But, I suppose, with Drew Brees now out of town, they’re going to need all the help they can get.
- Green Bay Packers (“Go Pack Go! The Frozen Tundra”) – Home team gains more momentum, and the away team gains less. Away team fatigues faster and has a harder time changing direction.
It seems as though EA has rewarded the tough and rigorous terrain up in Wisconsin with a multilayered home-field advantage in Madden 22. Green Bay will have the luxury of gaining momentum throughout the entire game (as the opponent loses it) and sitting back as the defense struggles to move around on the field. The decreased mobility/change of direction on top of the limited stamina towards the end of games will significantly benefit the Packers when playing at Lambeau.
- Tennessee Titans (“Titan Up“) – Home team will avoid committing holding penalties.
With the Titans being able to avoid major holding penalties and the fact that they already possess one of the most dominant runners in football history, you can expect the Titans to be a serious problem when they’re playing at home in Madden 22. Even though we don’t know yet if they’re referring to offensive or defensive holding calls, we’re going to try and stay optimistic and assume that Henry will be even more of a force in Madden 22.
- Washington Football Team (“Unstable Ground “) – Away team has an incredibly hard time changing direction.
Anyone facing up against Washington is going to be in for one heck of a grind. With speed being so vital in both Madden, and the real-life NFL, having the advantage to slow down your opponent will be deadly. We don’t know if this references the run game, defense, receivers, or what. However, we know that the FedEx field will limit overall mobility for opposing teams dramatically.
- Seattle Seahawks (“The 12’s”) – Random portions of the play art for the away team offense will be squiggly and hard to read.
Seattle is known for having a rocking fanbase when it comes to football, with their “12s” making a name for themselves on a national level. And it seems like they’ve been justly rewarded in Madden 22 with a feature that’s sure to cause some headaches and missed plays. However, this method has been used in previous NCAA games, so some players may already be used to having to deal with this feature.
