Jagged Alliance 3: Merc Relationships and Affinities Guide

Friends or foes?

All’s fair in love and war when it comes to being hired out as a Mercenary in Jagged Alliance 3. But knowing who does and doesn’t get on with each other is important when choosing your squad. With a limited budget to start off with and four separate lists to choose from, with different skills and hiring prices, knowing who can work with one another will make your life significantly easier and work out well for the money left in your wallet. Therefore, this is Vincent’s guide for all merc relationships and affinity they have with one another in Jagged Alliance 3.

All Merc Relationships in Jagged Alliance 3

In Jagged Alliance 3 it is important to look at who can and cannot work well together. If any members on your squad do not get along, you will find that they will either stop working together during their contract duration, having to be placed in another squad or demand higher payment in order to compromise. Stat wise, the Moral of a Merc is affected based on whether they like or dislike their comrade. If they prefer working with specific Mercs, you will find their Morale increasing by 1 point. However, if there is a disliking between both Mercs or on one side, the affected Merc(s) will have a Morale decrease by 1.

Every Merc in Jagged Alliance appears to have a set preference. However, this is only discovered through recruiting a variety of squad compositions as the game does not state during the recruitment process that the Merc has a preference for specific colleagues. Some Mercs are neutral in their likes and dislikes, often being able to work with the majority of others. But there are a lot of Mercs that have preferences that can massively impact your game. Use the table below when recruiting your Mercs based on their relationships.

Note: Anything with (LOT) or (DOT) means Likes over Time and Dislikes over Time meaning that the Mercs relationship changes if you keep recruiting the same pair over and over to extend their contract and complete missions with.
