Is Warhammer 40K: Darktide Singleplayer? Answered

Can you play alone or just with bots in Warhammer 40K: Dartide?

Warhammer 40K: Darktide is an action-packed blast and successor to Fatshark’s Vermintide series. You will be serving the God-Emperor of Mankind as you purge away the stain that is Chaos. In strike teams of four, players must throw themselves out into the madness and take down targets, slaughter the hordes, and cull the presence of Nurgle. But what if you wanted to play alone? Can you play singleplayer in Warhammer 40K: Dartide?

Can you play on your own in Warhammer 40K: Dartide?

Many people ask this question as they don’t like the idea of having to team up with other players and rely on typically rubbish teammates, or would rather not have other people rushing forwards constantly.

In previous entries, such as Vermintide 2, players had the opportunity to play exclusively with bots, the closest to a ‘single player’ experience the game would offer. Despite being a designed multiplayer experience, the lobby was not online and the player had control over having real teammates and bots.

In Dartide, however, this is no longer the case. Not only will the lobby, the Mourningstar, be in a dedicated online server, but players will no longer have control over their teammates.

The mission select board will have rotating missions that are accessible depending on the player’s level. As soon as a player accepts the mission, the game forces the player into a multiplayer match. There is no way to circumvent this. The only way a player will play with bots is if all the other players willingly leave, forcing the game to replace their characters with boths for balance’s sake.

Many players may be upset with this new design of match-making, however as it currently stands, private servers are not a part of Warhammer 40K: Dartide.
