Triangle Strategy is a turn-based RPG reminiscent to the very best title within the genre such as Final Fantasy Tactics. From the same team behind the Bravely series and Octopath Traveler, it is a heavily political, tabletop war-based affair. Considering its available on the Nintendo Switch especially as yet another visually striking RPG, you may be wondering if romance plays any part in it – much like Fire Emblem: Three Houses or Persona 5. With Triangle Strategy, it may not put the player character in the matchmaking seat but romance can and is on the cards in its narrative to some extent. Here’s what you need to know.
Is There Romance in Triangle Strategy?
Triangle Strategy does not involve any sort of matchmaking system. There is no way of pairing up its numerous units, character or any other supporting member of its cast with one another. Rather, romance can and is involved with certain character storylines. This is especially so with two of its main characters – Serenoa Wolffort and Frederica Aesfrost. The pair are engaged at the start of the game and are set to be married. Across the main storyline and depending on what ending players achieve, their relationship can and will progress into something different.
The same goes for the rest of its cast. Romances and interpersonal relationships are discoverable when digging deeper into quests, dialogue and even its mechanics. The Conviction mechanic is a good indicator of this. This is because depending on every single selection you make in the game, your actions and reactions can increase or decrease these hidden gauges. These are namely Morality, Liberty and Utility.
Play around with your responses to see what you may be missing out on when it comes to adding more depth and context to even the most minor of its characters!
