Is There Level Gating in Tower of Fantasy

There's a time and place for everything.

When it comes to live-service games, the goal is to keep you entertained and engaged over a long period of time. This is why they can’t always give you all of the content in the game all at once. You’d finish it all in a week! As a live-service adventure game itself, this is an important factor to consider for Tower of Fantasy. So, is there level gating in Tower of Fantasy?

Is There Level Gating in Tower of Fantasy

If you’re progressing through Tower of Fantasy’s main questline and suddenly find yourself blocked, you have most likely been stopped by a level cap. Tower of Fantasy does employ a level gating system in which you can’t level up any further after reaching a particular cap. This cap, in turn, increases after a daily reset.

This system is in place to keep you from burning through the main game content too quickly. If you’ve run up against the level cap that’s lower than the required level for the next main quest, you’ll just have to lay off the grinding until the next day. Go do something else while you wait; it’s a big game, after all!

Is There Time Gating in Tower of Fantasy

In addition to level gating, Tower of Fantasy does employ a time gating system. As I mentioned, level caps and certain questlines are refreshed every day during the daily reset. If you try to access the main questline too soon after finishing the previous main quest objective, you’ll get blocked off, and you’ll need to wait until tomorrow.

In addition to time gating on the main questline, there is also time gating on exploration. If you see any greyed-out sections or icons on your world map, that means those interactables are not currently accessible. As time passes and more refreshes occur, more of the map will gradually open up to you. If you do interact with one of these points, you’ll get a handy timer that will tell you exactly how long you have until they become available.
