Is Sea of Thieves Split Screen? Answered

Does the popular online multiplayer also have Split-Screen capabilities?

With a 2018 Release, Sea of Thieves continues to be a very popular online multiplayer Pirate RPG. Microsoft has created a fun and long-lasting adventure RPG for you on the high seas finding treasure and facing off with other rival swashbucklers. While you can also play the game solo, its entertainment value lies more in the online multiplayer watery depths. Of course, this brings up the question you’re asking to find out: is Sea of Thieves split screen? With multiplayer online, one might want to experience multiplayer with a crewmate, or friends, in your own home as well after all.

Is Sea of Thieves Split Screen?

Despite the online multiplayer feature, Sea of Thieves does not support split-screen multiplayer. This means both versions of the game for the PC and Xbox. Groups of real-world friends can only join together in a co-op group through online multiplayer.

While that can be some disappointing news, Sea of Thieves is a Microsoft Game Studios exclusive. This means Sea of Thieves has the cross-play feature between their PC and console versions. You and your friends can play anywhere together no matter which version you have.

Sea of Thieves is currently available for $39.99 on PC, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S. It is also available as part of the Game Pass for both PC and Xbox.

If the price is a bit high for everyone you want to play with you to use, there are a few options for having your friends play with you. Buying through the Microsoft Store or Xbox Game Pass allows you to share co-op mode with 3 other members. With one “main” profile you can have up to 2 Xbox profiles and 2 PC players. This option does not work through a Steam account or purchase.
