Is Rogue Legacy 2 Coming to PlayStation?

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

After two years in early access (which followed two years in closed development), Cellar Door Games’ sequel to 2013’s Rogue Legacy has finally released in full. Rogue Legacy 2 is the next installment of the so-called “genealogical roguelite” where every time you die, your descendants inherit your estate and pick up from where you left off. Rogue Legacy 2 is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. However, is Rogue Legacy 2 coming to PlayStation?

Is Rogue Legacy 2 Coming to PlayStation?

At the moment, Rogue Legacy 2 is only available on PC and Xbox consoles, with no official plans for release on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 having been given. The game was developed first and foremost for PC in order to keep development nice and straightforward for the dev team (which is literally made up of just two people).

However, while Rogue Legacy 2 isn’t on PlayStation consoles just yet, an eventual arrival on PlayStation, as well as other platforms like Switch, is well within the realm of possibility. The first game eventually made the jump to all platforms, PlayStation included, and the devs have previously said that once Rogue Legacy 2 was out of early access, they’d think about porting.

The game only just came out this week, and as with any release from early access, there will probably be some growing pains and new bugs to smash. Once the game has had some time to settle into its primary platforms, though, then we can almost definitely expect a PlayStation port, perhaps in a year or so.
