Is Hogwarts Legacy’s map of the castle true to the Harry Potter books?

Remember reading about this in Harry Potter?

Hogwarts Legacy is looking to become Game of the Year with everything the developers have added into the game to give us realism. We finally have the ability to create our own character, pick our own house, and fly through Hogwarts on a broom. As you’re walking through the castle heading to class you’ve probably noticed all the little homages that were included. We’ve seen familiar statues, classrooms that remind us of the movies, and butter beer we can freely drink after our studies. How accurate is Hogwarts Legacy to the books? Is Hogwart’s Legacy map similar to what you read? We’re here to find out if Hogwarts Legacy’s map of the castle is true to the Harry Potter books.

Hogwarts Legacy Accuracy

“They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge oak front door.” In Hogwarts Legacy you are transported into the world of Harry Potter. Just how accurate is the game to the movie and book franchise? To answer this question it’s actually pretty spot on! Players have took to TikTok to showcase the castle and are comparing the books description to scenery outside. One TikTok account describes accurately what students see as they first step foot on Hogwarts land. They travel on the vast lake until they reach a cliff. Inside of that entryway, through the cliff, is a small harbor that takes students into the castle. Here are the different locations around Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy that are perfectly described in the books.

Hogwarts Castle

In Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone, chapter 6, you’re introduced to the magnificent castle. Everything from the platform, long steep paths, and the great black lake are described as what Harry had seen. Players have noticed that if you were to follow the books description you’d make your way to Hogwarts easily. Just follow the path

the book tells you to go and you’ve made it to Hogwarts. It’s so accurate that even the ivy dividing the lake from the harbor is shown.

Prefect’s Bathroom

After you have come across the spell to unlock doors you will gain access to the prefect’s bathroom. In the books Harry describes seeing a “softly lit but splendid candle filled chandelier and everything was made by white marble.” The book revealed the enormous bathroom to have a large scale bath tub with over a hundred golden taps. The’s also a diving board, linen curtains, and large fluffy white towels in the corner. A portrait is shown with a mermaid with blonde hair watching over the room. The bathroom is exactly as described in the books. Next time you’re roaming around Hogwarts after hours check out the bathroom and relax.

Common Rooms

@kingmoraj

Replying to @fiffichen I just started a Gryffindor play through so I can tour the common room. #hogwartslegacy #hogwarts #harrypotter #hogwartsismyhome #funny #comparison #fyp

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Chapter 17 Harry is describing what happened when he tried heading for the common rooms. He makes note of the spiral staircase and as he approaches the stairs he hears a weird sound. As he walked up the 6th stair the steps melted together to make a long smooth stone slide. If you’re playing Hogwarts Legacy you can experience the same thing Harry experienced when traversing up the stairs leading to the common room.

Daffodils

@kingmoraj

Replying to @thanoswasright99 just a little mini one. I love the tiny things they add that are knods to the book. it enriches the experience by so much. #hogwartslegacy#hogwarts#harrypotter#comparison#hogwartsismyhome#jimdale#fyp#daffodilsb#booktogame

This isn’t exactly a location but it’s an accurate representation of the plants described in the books. In one of the Harry Potter books it is described that Lavender Brown and her friends went to grab some daffodils to give to Professor Sybill. They wanted to make her happy so they picked up some normal looking Daffodils. They didn’t grab the flowers that made honking sounds. If you are playing Hogwarts Legacy you will come across daffodils that make honking sounds described in the book.

Kitchen

@kingmoraj

Replying to @kingmoraj I couldn’t help myself, I love making these so much. Here is “The Kitchen” hhogwartslegacyhhogwartshharrypotterhhogwartsismyhomeccomparisonjjimdalehhpf#fyp

The kitchen in Hogwarts is huge because they have plenty of mouths to feed. The books describes the kitchen as being large similar to the great hall. It had “mounds of glittering brass pots and pans heaped around the stone walls”. If you’ve made your way to the kitchen you will find that the game accurately describes how the kitchen looks. The brass pots are all around the kitchen and it is made entirely up of stone walls. If you’re in the kitchen grab some desserts and drinks that are sprawled around. The kitchen also displays artwork of mainly food, which was also portrayed in the books.
