Is Hello Neighbor 2 Open World? Answered

More than just a house to explore?

Back in 2017, one thing that was all the rage amongst streamers and gamers alike was the love for what is known as Hello Neighbor, a stealth title with quirky game mechanics of a nearly-never ending house that expands with every venture into it and a terrifying neighbor whose mysterious backstory seems as dark as that of a slasher film.

Fast forward to now, 5 years later, and we finally have a direct sequel, after a spin-off and online multiplayer game. This new title, Hello Neighbor 2 follows directly in its predecessor’s footsteps, giving players yet another place to explore, yet this time around, things are even bigger and more ominous.

But though the first game’s explorable house was intriguing for sure, players have wondered if Hello Neighbor 2 features even more places to explore. So, today let’s talk about if Hello Neighbor 2 is open world and get to the bottom of it.

If you played the first game, then you’d know that you really only ever got to explore the titular Neighbor’s house, trying to solve his secrets in a place of mysterious physical puzzles. You were also able to walk around your own house a bit though, which made things feel a bit more open. It was quite fun even in that simple form.

However, players do have a lot more exploration to do in Hello Neighbor 2 because it actually is in fact a more open game. Locations are larger with many more houses to explore, turning it into a full neighborhood block or two to explore.

Would I call it open world? Not really, as it’s more of full open levels with several different locations to explore. Think less Grand Theft Auto V and more of something like Uncharted 4: A Theif’s End. You have levels, and within those levels are big open locations that can be fully explored.

Players also have more enemy characters to evade those time around too, as each location they’ll explore has a specific person that they have to watch out for, lest they get caught. It adds much more difficulty to the game but even more puzzle-solving and hilarious situations to encounter which is part of what made the first so much fun to play.

So, now you should have a better understanding of Hello Neighbor 2 and how it tackles an open world of possibilities. If this helped you, then be sure to check out some of our other great guides, such as “All Characters in Hello Neighbor 2”.
