Who would have thought this young girl without a home would be such a lethal force on the field? As we all know, it is the quiet, reserved types that we need to look out for and Clara happens to be one of them. So if you happen to get her in your party, it may be best to bring her to the frontline to tackle most of the damage. Do not worry, she is more than safe under the trusty stature of the ancient Mech. With so many characters to unlock in Honkai: Star Rail, building your dream team in this turn-based RPG can be a tough decision and one that could require weeks in planning. But is Clara worth it in Star Rail? This guide will discuss how viable Clara in Honkai: Star Rail is.
Who is Clara in Honkai: Star Rail?
Clara is one of the 28 playable characters within the full release of Honkai: Star Rail as of April 26th, 2023. However, as with miHoYo games, you will not be able to get Clara out so easily. Whilst you will obtain a total of 8 default characters through your playthrough, you will need to roll for the other 20 characters. The method of doing this is with the Gacha System, a standard gambling mechanic where you are allowed a roll via the Star Rail Passes which use Warps that take real money in return for you crossing your fingers and rolling the dice on which new character you get in the game.
As Clara is a 5-Star character, the chances of obtaining her are slimmer than others. Whilst you may get an opportunity to get Clara at a later stage for free, following on from Genshin Impact Character Events, this is not a guarantee. The act of unlocking Clara can be a difficult one if luck is not on your side, you can purchase more Warps via the in-game currency of Stellar Jade. Whilst you will naturally obtain Stellar Jade and Warps through completing the story Quests and Limited-Time Events, this is a slow burner for those wanting to unlock the other 20 characters in Star Rail.

Should You Use Clara in Star Rail?
Clara is an interesting choice for your party as she works solely on how much damage she tanks via her literal tank of a companion, Svarog. This Mech requires damage to be taken by itself and Clara so that it can correctly respond with an appropriate damage back. For this reason, you need the enemy to strike your party first, which I imagine not a lot of players want to happen. In a sense Clara works similarly to Pokemon Moves such as Payback (Dark) or Power (Fighting), you must get hit first in order to utilize Clara’s Skills. If Clara is attacked by a single enemy, she is capable of retaliating against multiple enemies at once.
This character is one of the tankiest in the game and one that should be utilized if you have a more defensive playstyle than someone who prioritizes Speed and all-out Offence in a fight. Clara is best used in Boss Fights or at moments when you are facing a group of tough but common enemies. For this reason, Clara is a great asset to a team if you happen to unlock. She is strong, although her DPS can be temperamental due to the fact that you do not know how much her following Attack will hit for until it happens. In regard to other characters in Star Rail however, Clara is a viable option for both Defence and Offence, being the tank of this Honkai installment.
