How to Use Text-To-Pokémon

Gotta generate them all!

Fire, the wheel, the printing press, industrial revolution, computers, internet, AI. Our lives are about to change. And whether you like it or not, the next technology revolution will be the AI revolution (let’s hope with less human extinction), and we’re only on the early days of this new era. One way that this technology advance has captivated people around the world (me included), is the text to image AI generation technology.

DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, you name it. These tools are now able to create images that can even compare to full-blown handcrafted masterpieces (and have even won several awards). Today, we’re not gonna debate whether this images created by AI software are art or no. We’re going to have an infinitely more lighthearted conversation. Based on Stable Diffusion, Text-To-Pokémon has the ability to create original Pókemon with just a simple text prompt. Here is how to use Text-To-Pokémon. Oh, and by the way, I created the Pokémon featured on the image of this article. Everyone can do it!

How to Use Text-To-Pokémon

No, you don’t have to learn how to code or even have a tech-savvy personality. The idea of this AI generation software is to make things as simple as possible. So what you’re going to do is visit the Text-To-Pokémon site, and basically begin creating your own Pokémon! Here is a step-by-step process for you.

  • In the prompt text box, fill it with a simple description of your Pokémon (e.g. orange tiger, talking parrot, Chewbacca, etc.).
  • In the num-outputs text box, you define how many images are created, each with a variation of the same prompt.
  • Regarding num_inference_steps, I would just keep it as it is. More steps mean a better-quality result.
  • The same thing as before, but with guidance_scale. It determines how close the result will be to the prompt.
  • If you have a specific seed in mind, you will input it in, you guessed it, seed. This basically means variation. A different seed will have a different Pokémon.
  • Click Submit and wait until you new Pokémon is generated.

And voilà! Your new Pokémon is generated! Not even Ash Ketchum himself will be able to find it in his Pokédex. It is that unique! So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and create your Pokémon now! Who knows, maybe in the future those Pokémon could become animated and interactive. Maybe we could even battle other AI-generated Pokémon. The future is promising and scary, but filled with Pokémon.
