How to Unlock Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue in Bayonetta 3

Bringin' back the classics.

A major part of Bayonetta’s identity as a character is her quartet of magical pistols. Every game she gets a new set with new abilities, and Bayonetta 3 is no exception. That said, while I love her new guns, collectively known as Colour My World, you just can’t beat the classics. Here’s how to unlock Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue in Bayonetta 3.

Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue are the gun sets Bayonetta originally used in Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, respectively. You get to use Scarborough Fair briefly during Bayonetta 3’s introductory chapter with the original Bayonetta, but from then on, her default weapons are Colour My World.

However, it is possible to return to using Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue, if you’re so inclined. Both gun sets can be unlocked in Bayonetta 3, and allow you to use Bayonetta’s classic moveset. Since they’re old guns, they can’t use Demon Masquerade moves, but they can still use Wicked Weaves, plus Bayonetta’s old transformations like Beast Within and Crow Within. You can upgrade them in the Skills menu to unlock more moves from the old moveset, which cost less to unlock than the moves on Bayonetta’s new weapons. Their movesets are identical, though, so if you get both, you only really need to upgrade one of them.

So how do you actually unlock these weapons? Well, therein lay the rub: to unlock Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue, you need to have save data for Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, respectively, on your Switch hard drive. If you have save data, the game will automatically detect it after you unlock access to the Gates of Hell and inform you as such. Afterwards, you can buy them in the regular items menu with Homonculous Seeds.

Unfortunately, a save data check is the only way you can unlock these weapons. They’re not required to beat Bayonetta 3 by any means, and if this is your first entry in the series, then don’t worry about it. If it bothers you, though, consider it an incentive to play the originals! They’re still fantastic games.
