How to Unlock Brainwashing Ritual in Cult of the Lamb

In Cult of the Lamb, there are many unique and interesting rituals you can perform. From a feasting ritual that refills your Followers’ hunger to a funeral for the dearly departed, the options are endless. But, what if you’re busy grinding towards a Bishop battle and can’t pay close attention to your Cult? In cases such as these, it’s time to bust out the morally ambiguous guns for a ritual normally saved for your weird uncle. It’s time to make like a kite and get really … really … high. Here’s how to unlock the Brainwashing ritual.

How to Perform the Brainwashing Ritual in Cult of the Lamb

While exploring the procedurally generated worlds of Darkwood and Anura, you’ll inevitably run into a small team of mushroom people from the Spore Grotto who will mention someone by the name of Sozo. These fun guys will tell you that Sozo is seeking an item called Menticide Mushrooms, but they have no clue how to find these mushrooms, so — of course — they leave the task to you.

If you go to the Spore Grotto and speak with Sozo, you’ll immediately notice they seem off their rocker. But there’s a reason for this — they’re a specialist in mushroom research, or, perhaps it’s more accurate to say ‘shroom research. Sozo will offer to teach you a ritual in exchange for 10 Menticide Mushrooms. These can be found in Anura, or they can be harvested if you have enough seeds to plant them.

Bring 10 Menticide Mushrooms to Sozo and they’ll reward you … with a Holy Talisman shard. I mean, sure, that’s a nice reward, but YOU PROMISED ME A RITUAL, SOZO. Sozo asks for even more mushrooms. 20 more, to be precise. Thankfully, as long as you’ve been razing each combat room in Anura and harvesting Mushrooms at your cult, you should have more than enough to enable Sozo’s craving.

Sozo will teach you the Brainwashing Ritual in exchange for the ‘shrooms. If you choose to perform this ritual on your followers, a couple of things will happen:

• All of your followers will be brainwashed at once.
• FAITH will be locked at full for two in-game days.
• Some — or all — of your followers will become very sick afterwards. Just make sure you put them to bed until they recover before they die, though!!
