Side-scrolling beat ’em ups have made quite a resurgence in the past few years. Games like Streets of Rage 4, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, and more have brought the genre back into the limelight. It was only a matter of time until another old-school gaming juggernaut made its jump to the modern age of gaming. And thus, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons was released with rougelike elements and split-screen co-op. Giving players another chance to follow the Double Dragon brothers on another fist smashing adventure. However, these aren’t the only characters you can play as. With a deep pool of characters to pick from, let’s figure out how to unlock all characters in Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons.

How to Unlock All Characters in Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons

When first starting the game, players will be able to select from 4 characters to play as. There are 9 unlockable characters, with a total of 13 characters in the game. As you smash your way through levels, you’ll earn money for defeating enemies and destroying environmental objects. At the end of every mission, any money you have left over will be converted into tokens that you can spend to unlock new characters. Before starting a playthrough, you’re given the choice of implementing any modifiers which alter like health and enemy aggression. The higher you increase these sliders, the more tokens you’ll get for your cash.

After earning tokens, you can use them by going to the Token Shop at the main menu. If you’re looking to earn tokens quickly, you’ll want to horde your cash and not waste it on continues or other items. We’re going to give you the names of the unlockable characters, as well as their price:

• Abobo – Cost: 5 tokens
• Burnov – Cost: 10 tokens
• Chin Tai Mei – Cost: 5 tokens
• Linda – Cost: 10 tokens
• Willy – Cost: 25 tokens
• Duke – Cost: 25 tokens
• Anubis – Cost: 25 tokens
• Lady Okada – Cost: 25 tokens
• “The Mayor” – Cost: 50 tokens
