Smalland has no shortage of ferocious and fearsome creatures for players to encounter. Throughout your time in the Land of the Small, players will come across a handful of tamable companions. These companions can be passive to players, such as when taming a ladybug, however there are a few that you’ll need to beat into submission. The colorful and elongated Gecko is part of the latter, attacking you and your friends on sight. What’s more, you’ll need to defeat a certain boss in order to get the chance at taming these vertical adventurers. How to Tame the Gecko in Smalland: Survive the Wilds
Taming a gecko isn’t going to be a walk in the park for players. First, you will need to defeat the Rhino Beetle boss fight, which you can find the location of by talking to Skadi. Make sure you’re stocked up on healing potions and a decent iron weapon, while making sure you avoid the Beetles big slamming attacks.

After defeating the Beetle, it’ll drop a Rhino split horn that you’ll need to grab before returning to Skadi. Present the split horn to them and they will reward you with the recipe for gecko treats. You’ll need a cauldron to craft the treat, and you’ll need to acquire 2 ant heads, 2 bee heads, 1 petal, and 2 seed oils. Once the treat has been crafted, you’ll need to find a gecko. They normally congregate in groups, and while you can tame a gecko with others around, they are aggressive and will attack you. After the gecko’s health is lowered, you will get a prompt when standing next to them. Press ‘F’ to tame, and you will successfully tamed a gecko. These guys will help you traverse any vertical cliff, and will be key to traversing the swamp.
