How to Switch to Fists in Dead Island 2

In a Zombie Apocalypse sometimes you just want to let off steam by heading into the ring with an undead person and knocking them out. An apocalypse can be stressful after all, remember Lockdown? I could have used a Zombie to knock out at that time. Regardless, Zombie Games are known for using standard weaponry that can be upgraded via resources found in the open world to add to its lethal usage such as nails in a Bat or electricity flowing through a Pipe. There are many ways to annihilate the hoards, but sometimes, nothing beats a good old fashioned fist fight. Getting close and personal with the Zombies is one of the main experiences of Dead Island and nothing feels better than getting those hands bloody. But can you go around knocking Zombies out with your fists in Dead Island 2?

Can Fists Be Used in Dead Island 2

We all have played our fair share of Zombie Horror Games, be that fighting abomination in space in Dead Space or charging into rabid enemies in Resident Evil, we all love to get the fists out and start swinging. Fists are typically your starting/ default weapon in the game as in a difficult situation such as fighting in a Zombie Apocalypse, there may be a lot of times where your fists are the only viable weapon available. However, unlike other games, Dead Island 2 does not dive into this realistic idea in an unrealistic world of Zombies. Whilst you may be having fun knocking out Zombies with Carla’s fists in Dead Island 2, this fight is only just the beginning and more powerful weapons are needed if you want to survive.

As Carla moves away from her fists and towards something more viable in the Apocalypse, so too does everyone else. Because of this, Deep Silver Dambuster Studios have decided not to make it possible for players to use fists in Dead Island 2. The only option if you want to use your fists is actually by getting the Brass Knuckles as a primary weapon, otherwise switching to or equipping fists in Dead Island just in not possible as of its release. Whether or not this will change is unknown but for now, the only way to use your fists in Dead Island 2 is if your weapon breaks after too much use. So if you are someone who wants to go 1-on-1 with a Zombie or stage dive into a hoard, fists only, you can do so if you break the weapon in your hand.

Breaking the weapon will force your character to utilize their fists in Dead Island 2. It is an annoying however as you are not meant to use your fists at all in the game but are ‘forced’ to if your weapon breaks until you repair it or find another.
