The Ring of Death puzzle in Desktop Dungeons Rewind

How to Solve Ring of Death in Desktop Dungeons Rewind

Here's a step-by-step guide to finally beating the pesky "Ring of Death" puzzle and clearing the "Hello, Halflings!" puzzle pack

Desktop Dungeons Rewind didn’t just change the formula of the classic roguelike adventure into a bigger, friendlier format. Its updates and rebalances also changed the fiendish challenge levels you could complete for additional rewards.

One of the better rewards you can get is for finishing “Hello, Halflings!” It’s a pack that introduces you to the mechanics of Halfling kin and their uncanny ability to convert items into helpful health potions. It also gives you the Viper Ward, an item that makes you immune to poison.

With such a valuable reward (it only takes up a small amount of space), it’s locked off behind one of the more devious sequences in Desktop Dungeons Rewind, a puzzle titled “Ring of Death.” It involves a very specific set of steps, positioning, busting through a wall, and even using death protection to finish. It’s an exhausting solve at best.

Immediately use Weytwut on the minotaur. You’ll swap positions and line it up right under the Jormungandr. Collect the health pendant from nearby.

Hit the goblin with BURNDARAYZ, convert WEYTWUT into a potion, drink the potion, and then finish off the goblin. Pick up the mana amulet and potion he guarded, and then move back down to Jormungandr.

Use BURNDARAYZ on Jormungandr, drink a mana potion, and then use BURNDARAYZ on Jormungandr again.

Hit Jormungandr and then convert your mana necklace and BURNDARAYZ into a health potion. Drink the health potion.

Hit Jormungandr again, convert your HP necklace into a health potion, and then drink the health potion. Hit Jormungandr one more time, and breathe a sigh of relief. Ring of Death is over— and you won.
