How to Solve Missing Gems Puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Did you try looking in the sock drawer?

What is it with mysterious ancient doors being sealed with colorful gems? Maybe I’m not whimsical enough in my thinking, but I think a sturdy padlock would be better than a bunch of pedestals with shiny rocks. If you want to get the most whimsy possible out of Disney Dreamlight Valley, though, I guess you gotta play by its rules. Here’s how to solve the missing gems puzzle in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

As part of the quest The Great Blizzard, which is necessary to befriend Olaf and bring him to your town, you need to open up a mysterious spooky portal in the secret chamber he was locked in. After you construct and place the Dreamlight Prism, the portal will appear alongside six pedestals. Three of these pedestals will have gems atop them, but the other three will be empty.

To fully open the portal, you’re going to need to determine which gems are missing, then place them atop their appropriate pedestals. The game doesn’t exactly give you a hint as to the placements of the gems, but if you take a look at the gems that are already present, you may get an inkling:

  • Red on the front left
  • Yellow on the back left
  • Blue on the middle right

If you’re not up to date on your color theory, the answer is the colors of the rainbow. We need to arrange gems in the traditional pattern of ROYGBIV, sans the last one: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and indigo.

As it so happens, the Valley is packed with gems of various colors, and I’m willing to bet you’ve got a few stashed away here and there. All you need to do is bring the correct gems to the chamber and place them in this order:

  • Orange (Citrine): Middle left
  • Indigo (Amethyst): Front right
  • Green (Emerald): Back right

If you don’t have all the gems you need on hand, here’s a quick reminder of where you can mine more from mineral deposits:

  • Citrine: Sunlit Plateau and Glade of Trust
  • Amethyst: Forgotten Lands and Frosted Heights
  • Emerald: Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust

Once all of the gems have been placed, the portal will open, and you can proceed with the quest. Hope Olaf appreciates all the effort we’re going to here.
