How to Solve Clock Tower Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy – Guide

It's treasure-o-clock.

You know, as time goes on, I’m starting to think clock towers exist less for the purpose of actually telling time, and more to house complex clockwork puzzles and gimmicks. You want to know what time it is, wear a watch. You want an elaborate construct to house your loot, you build a clock tower. Speaking of which, here’s how to solve the clock tower puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy.

If you bum around the South Wing of Hogwarts, you’ll likely notice the large clock tower. You’ll visit this spot at least once during the game’s campaign, as it doubles as the home of the Crossed Wands Dueling Club. In addition to the club, though, the clock tower also houses a handful of valuable items you can obtain with a little bit of ingenuity.

On the bottom floor of the clock tower is a sealed metal door. Periodically, the door will open up, but it closes too quickly to just walk through. This is because the opening of this door, and indeed, several other doors in the clock tower, are synced up to the motions of the tower’s large pendulum. Yeah, a clock tower would have a timing puzzle.

Before you can solve this puzzle, you’ll need access to the stopping spell, Arresto Momentum. Go finish Madam Kogawa’s second assignment to receive it.

If you’ve got the spell ready, then watch the motion of the pendulum. If you look at the floor, you’ll see a line of several symbols. Each of these symbols corresponds to one of the locked doors in the tower. Just inspect the door you’re trying to open, wait until the pendulum moves over its symbol, then cast Arresto Momentum on it. As long as the pendulum remains over the symbol, the door will stay open for you.

Behind each of these doors is a treasure chest with some loot. There’s one door on each floor of the tower, so just crack ’em open as you make your way up. Don’t worry if you can’t see the ground from the higher floors, as there’s a metal bar with the symbols on it that you can stop the pendulum over as well.

If you open up all four chests, you’ll also clear one of the Hogwarts Secrets challenges, and can redeem an extra reward from the Challenges tab in the menu. All this free stuff, and all it took was a little bit of clock repair.
