Puzzle 1: Replace the Fuses

To get to the Breaker Room you must steal the Butcher’s Keys. These are dangling off his person, therefore the only way to grab these are by taking them when he is turned around. Crouch and sneak up behind him and make sure your cursor is pointing right at the keys, click to grab. No matter what, he will be alerted when you steal the keys so be ready to evade him. Get to the nearest vent or simply outrun him, he will lose sight of you after a while. We recommend learning the layout of the map before you attempt this and to do it first thing when the map is at its smallest and least confusing.

After you have successfully stolen and evaded the Butcher, head down to the Basement and open the white door with the Titanium Lock. Be sure to keep this key on you for a while as it opens quite a lot of doors. Once inside you will see a Fuse box with 4 damaged fuses. Remove these and replace them with the fuses in the white chest of drawers. The Fuse box can only have a maximum of 200 Volts going through it so place the fuses: 70v, 50v, 45v and 30v into the Fuse box and pull the lever. To be sure that this has worked simply click on the box again, it should tell you that the power is on.

Puzzle 2: Stopping the Vent Fans and Destroying the Cameras

To cut the wires in the Basement you need to find the Wire Cutters. These can be found under the sink in the Kitchen. But there is rope stopping you from getting the Wire Cutters. You will need to first get the Lighter and then the Rubbing Alcohol. The Lighter can be found in the chest of drawers beside the cage where you first woke up. The Rubbing Alcohol can be found in the second-floor bathroom, inside a locked cabinet. To open this cabinet, you need to find the Hex Key. This is then used to open a variety of locks.

Use the Rubbing Alcohol on the rope holding the sink cupboards shut. Then use the Lighter to burn the rope. You now have the Wire Cutters. Go to the Basement and cut the box of Wires located right underneath the stairs. This will cut the power to the Vent Fans.

You can also use the Wire Cutters to disable the Cameras in the House. Avoid the motion detection red light and go under the camera. From here you can look up and use the wire cutters to cut the wires to the camera, killing its power.

Puzzle 3: Clock/Scale Puzzle

The Clock Puzzle can be found in the side area of the House that is off limits due to the door being boarded up. To get into this area you need to stop the Vent Fans (guide on this is above). After you have stopped the Vent Fans go into this new area of the vents where you will witness a cutscene of someone being killed by the Butcher. Continue to crawl through the Vents until you see an opening, drop down into the new corridor. You are now on the other side of the boarded-up door. Here you can explore the rooms where you will find a new puzzle. You must find all the body parts to place onto the scale.

Depending on which difficulty you are playing on the Body Parts will appear in different places:

Easy

  • Torso – Room at the end of the corridor after dropping out of the vents. The room beside the barrels in the corner of the corridor. You will see the Torso Part on the Bed.
  • Organ – In the room to the right of the Scales, as soon as you walk in turn left and check the left side of the cupboard. In this room unlock the locked door.
  • First forearm, Upper arm and Hand – After going through the locked door there will be another locked door in front of you. Unlock this door and enter the Garage. You will see x3 Body Parts lying on the floor.
  • Second forearm – In the front seat of the Van, you must break the Window either using a Rock or the Hammer. Be sure to run back to the other room and hide underneath the bed as the Butcher will hear the glass break.
  • Foot – In the mannequin room. This room can be found by following the corridor round and stopping just before the boarded-up door to go back into the Main area of the House.

Medium

  • Torso – Room at the end of the corridor after dropping out of the vents. The room beside the barrels in the corner of the corridor. You will see the Torso Part on the Bed.
  • Organ – In the room to the right of the Scales, as soon as you walk in turn left and check the left side of the cupboard. In this room unlock the locked door.
  • First forearm – In the front seat of the Van, you must break the Window either using a Rock or the Hammer. Be sure to run back to the other room and hide underneath the bed as the Butcher will hear the glass break.
  • Foot – In the mannequin room. This room can be found by following the corridor round and stopping just before the boarded-up door to go back into the Main area of the House.
  • Second forearm – In the Sink in the Kitchen
  • Upper arm and Hand – On the table in the Kitchen where the Butcher is often seen carving flesh.

Once you have collected all pieces and placed them on the Scale, the Scale will break, and you will obtain a Gear (look behind the Scale). Use this Gear on the Grandfather clock in the next room (where you found the Organ part). Move the Clock from the wall and open the compartment on the back. Place the Gear on the Gear Peg. Set the time to 5 o’clock. A secret area will open up (to the left of where the Clock originally was placed).

Puzzle 4: Turning Off the Gas Leaks in the Vents

To turn off the Vent Gas you need to locate the Valve. The Valve can be found the Well in the Backyard Area. To get to this area you need to find the Secret Upstairs Area. The Area is unlocked by successfully completing the Clock/Scale Puzzle (guide on this is above). You will need to get the Wooden Plank located in the back of the Van in the Garage. Use a hammer, rock or your gun to break the glass so you can open the door. The Wooden Plank is needed to get across a large gap in the floor. Place the plank down and walk across.

The Secret Area to Get Outside

Explore this new area. One of the items you will find is the Shed Key in a room filled with skeletons. Move the Old Bookcase in the back of the room and jump into the hole behind where the Bookcase used to be. Crawl through this Vent which will end at a wooden panel, move the panel and you get the award ‘Fresh Air’. You are now outside on the roof. Here there are other captives which you can save by using your Hex key and paperclips and picking the locks to their cages. Keep in mind that you will need to escort two captives at a time to safety. Escort the captives to the area where you save the game in the vents. The Butcher will regularly come outside to fetch his next victim so remember to keep sneaking around but be quick if you want to save others.

Behind the Shed is a Well. Bring up the bucket by repeatedly clicking on the handle. There is a Valve inside. Return to the Basement and use the Valve on the pipe to stop the gas in the Vents.

Puzzle 5: Finding the Batteries

  • Battery 1: Found in the second-floor locked room off to the side of the room with water and food barrels. Go into this room’s closet to enter this locked room. From here you can unlock the door so that you have more rooms to access when evading the Butcher. The first battery can be found in the radio on the chest of drawers.
  • Battery 2: Found in the Dining Room, next to the Kitchen. Stand on the dining table and look up, take the Battery out of the Smoke Detector on the ceiling.
  • Battery 3: This battery is the hardest to get due to the lack of inventory space you have so be strategic on what to take. The location of this battery is in the secret upstairs area. To get to this area you must complete Clock Puzzle (see above). The battery is located inside a large room, on top of a ceiling fan. The fan cannot be turned on because the wire to the switch is cut. You need to find the Duct Tape which is located in the Shed in the outside area.

The Backyard

To get to this area, find the room covered in skeletons in the Secret Upstairs Area. At the back of the room is a moveable Old Bookcase, on top of it is the Shed key. Move this box aside and behind it will reveal a hole in the floor. Go down and follow the path to a wooden board. Move the board and you will see that you are on the roof. Head down and go to the Shed. Unlock it using the Shed Key and grab the Duct Tape inside. Return to the room with the ceiling fan, fix the switch wire using the Duct Tape. The final battery will fall down.

Use the batteries on the Can Opener in the Kitchen. This is crucial to the Escape Ending. That is our guide on how to solve all puzzles in Stay Out of the House Part 3: The House. You have only 3 days to escape. Can you do it?
