You finally got your hands on a copy of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet. You’re all geared up to play, readying yourself for the perfect Pokemon adventure. However there’s a cinch: perhaps you want the perfect set of stats for your starter Pokemon, or you’re facing down a Legendary encounter. Be it just a change of Nature, IVs, or you’re shiny hunting, there’s only one way to go about it.. a soft reset! It’s simple to do in this Generation of Pokemon, as long as you follow these simple steps.
How to Soft Reset in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
- Given you have control of the main character, press the X button to open the menu.
- On the right hand side of the screen there is the Main Menu. Navigate down to Options.
- To successfully soft reset, you will need to turn off Autosave. This keeps the game from saving unless you manually have done so. Scroll down and change the setting to Off.
- Then click A to confirm. It will ask if you’d like to save the settings click Yes.
- Now the game no longer autosaves, you can press down on the Home button to return your Switch to the home screen.
- Press X to close to software. You can restart the game and now repeat this process for as many times as you need!
For a casual playthrough of Pokemon, having the Autosave on can be super helpful. But for those who like to be extra careful, there is a lot of power in being able to restart at a specified save point of your choosing.
