How to Skip the Blood Moon in Terraria

This will not be your night, Blood Moon.

If you have played Terraria before, you know that reading the prompt “The Blood Moon is rising…” means terrible news. Not only does the name incite fear itself, but the Blood Moon will make things harder for the player: enemies will spawn even more, they will even spawn in places they are not supposed to (like near NPCs or your home), zombies will be able to open doors (ala raptors on Jurrasic Park) and nice and cute little animals like goldfish, bunnies and even penguins will transform into monsters. Apparently, the Blood Moon is less of a game mechanic and more of a representation of me approaching my adulthood. But anyway, is there any way to avoid this? Here is how to skip the Blood Moon in Terraria. And no, adulthood can’t be skipped guys, I tried, and I failed.

How to Skip the Blood Moon in Terraria

Before I start having an early midlife crisis, I will show you how to skip the Blood Moon in Terraria. And although the consequences of experiencing a Blood Moon sound awful, the way to skip it is quite simple. There are two ways to skip it.

  • Summoning the Pumpkin Moon: you will need the Pumpkin Medallion and the resources to use it. Those materials are found in Hardmode worlds where the player has already defeated Plantera.
  • Summoning the Frost Moon: you will need the Naughty Present and the resources to use it. Again, materials only available in Hardmode worlds where the player has already defeated Plantera.

This means that while skipping the Blood Moon is pretty straight-forwards, you will need to be pretty powerful to be able to skip it. So keep getting stronger, you will surely have to face some Blood Moons, but at least now you know you are able to skip them.
