There has not been an Overwatch World Cup since 2019 and with 2023, its fifth one will be commencing. Said to be “bigger than ever”, the past month saw its first phases begin, that of competitor country/region announcements and committee applications opening up. We will note the upcoming events that lead up to Overwatch 2’s very first World Cup, and how exactly you can sign up to qualify becoming a part of esports in Overwatch.
How to Sign up for Overwatch 2 World Cup
Firstly, willing participants do not have to be professional players in order to sign up for Overwatch 2 World Cup. Anyone with an active Battle.net account can apply. World Cup Trials and Committee Announcements are to be revealed this month, with applications opening up on February 1, 2023. Sign up to represent your country or region of over 36 areas.
June will see the teams compete within their groups to obtain one place of sixteen spots at the LAN finals which will be held in the fall of 2023.

The steps you need to do exactly to sign up to participate are as follows:
- Create a video and describe yourself, state who you are, your reasons for wanting to compete and what benefits you would provide to the team/space. Written statements will also be accepted.
- Fill out the web form that requires your name, email, Discord, Battle.net and other important details about yourself.
- Wait on a response from Blizzard via email or Discord for followed-up information.
Those interested in participating have until February 22, 2023 until submissions are closed. March 1 to 10 is when selections would be finalised. Additionally, note that only those aged 18 and above – or those who have turned 18 by October 1, 2023 – may quality. Ensure that you apply with proof of a valid passport for travel reasons. For any reason that it does not reflect your country or region, have a different government, issued identification in hand when it will be requested. Your Battle.net profile should also reflect this.
