Today marks the launch of New World, Amazon Games Studio’s massively multiplayer online RPG. As always, everyone is rushing to reserve their name, whether they are content creators or just prefer to play under a specific alias. This guide will explain how to reserve your name in New World now that EU servers are officially live.
New World character names are global, which means there can only be one player by a given name across all regions and servers. An Amazon Games Studio staff member confirmed the information on the official New World subreddit.
How to reserve your character name in New World
To reserve your name in New World, follow these steps:
- Launch New World.
- Click on Create Character on any available region.
- Select any World.
- Customize your appearance or skip this part.
- Enter the name you wish to reserve.
- Hit the Create Character button.
Following this process essentially reserves your character name. You can then delete your character when your desired server region opens up and create another character with the same name. The first region to open up is EU Central, so you can officially reserver your name at this time, as of September 28, 2021, at 2:00 AM EST.
It is not necessary to enter a game after creating your character and locking in a name. All you need to do is follow the steps above, get through the character creation process, enter your name, and lock it in.
Company names are also global, but these are not locked to any account. Whenever a company is deleted or removed in any way, the company name is immediately available and can be used elsewhere.
That’s everything you need to know about how to reserve your character name in New World. If you have a name you want to play under, make sure to act quickly and reserve it ahead of time. Otherwise, there are no guarantees someone else won’t take it.
You can refer to our New World countdown page to get an exact launch date and time for your specific region. Remember to delete your character and make a new one quickly in your desired region. It is possible someone can snipe your name if you act too slow.
