How to Raise Your Bravery Level in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

One of the first things you learn in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is that Bravery is one of the most important stats in the game, simply because there’s not much you can do without it. Every attack during Glow season requires a certain level of Bravery in order for you to participate, and if your level doesn’t match up, your fellow colonists could die! Participating in Glow season is a great reason to level up your Bravery stat in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, but it certainly isn’t the only one.

Bravery is used in almost every aspect of the game, from leading successful expeditions to daring Dys to eat worms! There are so many reasons to have a high Bravery stat, so, thankfully, it’s not the most difficult stat to level up! You can level up your Bravery stat in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist by choosing “brave” dialogue options when interacting with NPCs, or by spending your months participating in certain activities.

Getting free Bravery levels as rewards for being brave during NPC interactions is always nice, but not the most efficient if you’re deliberately trying to gain some major levels. Spending your months participating in “brave” activities is usually the best method for getting braver in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. Some activities give more Bravery than others, however. Participating in certain activities such as sports, defense training, and expeditions are great ways to raise your Bravery level!

Best Ways to Level Up Your Bravery Stat in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

Playing Sportsball at the Garrison

The best way to level up your Bravery stat early in the game, especially before you’re able to go on expeditions (or sneak out through the drainpipe), is by playing Sportsball at the Garrison. Playing Sportsball awards you a base rate of +2 Bravery and +1 Toughness, so you can even work on your Toughness stat at the same time!

Since Bravery is the primary reward stat for Sportsball, you’re able to gain even more than +2 by playing extra well. If you meet or go beyond the minimum card-game total and get a Goal or Super Goal when playing for the month, you can earn +2 or even +3 extra points of Bravery!

Sneaking Out/Going on Expeditions

Sneaking out of the Colony or going on expeditions are great ways to raise your Bravery level in I Was a Teenage Exocolonist! There are numerous opportunities to level up all of your stats when on an expedition, but Bravery and Perception are definitely the stats that get rewarded the most.

On these expeditions, you can compete in Bravery Challenges that will give you a minimum of +2 Bravery (or more if you meet the Goal or Super Goal!), and you can participate in these challenges multiple times while out on Expeditions. If you’re sneaking out rather than attending official expeditions, you even will gain a base rate of +2 Bravery everytime you leave the Colony! You can easily gain a dozen or more Bravery levels during a single month while on an Expedition!
