Oh man, this is the ultimate bragging rights in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022). Challenges and weapon upgrades, mods and camo have been quite the incentive since the early years of Call of Duty multiplayer as we know it. I remember, once upon a time, that golden weapons were the best type of camo you can get and getting the golden Desert Eagle was something to be proud of. Well, not anymore! Now alongside and above Gold, you have Platinum, Polyatomic and, of course, Orion camo. This is la crème de la crème of Call of Duty achievements. Now, imagine there’s a Mastery challenge above the unlocking of the camos, which involves another set of insane goals. That’s where we are aiming at today. Here is how to quickly unlock the Orion Mastery Calling Card in Modern Warfare 2.
How to Unlock the Orion Camo
Now, before we think about getting the Orion Mastery Calling Card, we first have to think about getting the Orion camo itself. This involves a lot of challenges and things to do in-game, so I’m going to simplify everything in a couple of to-do list bullets in order for you to have an idea of what you’re up against. Really, you don’t know the magnitude of what you’re getting into.
- Unlock all base camos. These are the normal camo challenges you will have to perform with each gun.
- Unlock the Gold camos and complete their challenge. Completing all the base camos unlocks the ability to attempt the Gold camo challenges. So it’s basically a two-step challenge from now on. You will need to perform a certain challenge with each weapon to unlock the Gold camo. Usually it involves killing a number of enemies without dying, several times.
- Unlock the Platinum camos and complete their challenge. Unlocking the platinum camos is a little harder than the gold ones. Firstly, in order to begin the platinum challenge per se, you will need to unlock the Gold camo of ALL the weapons of a certain category. So let’s imagine you wish to unlock the platinum camo for your M4. You will first need to unlock the Gold camo for all the Assault Rifles, and then be able to do the challenge to unlock it for the M4. The grind begins to grow.
- Unlock the Polyatomic camos and complete their challenge. You thought everything was getting easier? Wrong! In order to unlock the ability to do the Polyatomic challenge to unlock the Polyatomic camo, you will need to unlock the Platinum camo for ALL 51 weapons in the game (at least at launch they were 51). This is getting crazy. And remember, each Polyatomic camo challenge only unlocks the camo for THAT specific weapon.
- Unlock the Orion camos. Things get a little bit easier now. All you have to do to unlock the Orion camos is, yes, to unlock all the polyatomic camos for all 51 weapons in the game. No further challenge is necessary. Hooray! Now you have unlocked the Orion camos. But hey! What about the Mastery Calling Cards?
How to Unlock the Orion Mastery Calling Card
I’m glad to inform you that this achievement is pretty straightforward, just get some kills. And by some, I mean a lot. Alongside your Mastery Calling Card, you will receive an Emblem as well, so double the prizes, double the fun, right? Here is all that you need to unlock the Mastery Calling Cards.
- Gold Mastery Calling Card and Emblem: get 100 kills with the Gold Camo equipped.
- Platinum Mastery Calling Card and Emblem: get 200 kills with the Platinum Camo equipped.
- Polyatomic Mastery Calling Card and Emblem: get 300 kills with the Polyatomic Camo equipped.
- Orion Mastery Calling Card and Emblem: get 400 kills with the Orion Camo equipped.
Oh, and each Mastery Calling Card and Emblem only unlocks for the specific weapon you’re getting the kills with. That means that you will have to get 400 kills with every 51 weapons in the game in order to have all the Orion Mastery Calling Cards. Told you it was the mother of all grinds. Now, is there any way to do this quickly? Well, it’s not going to be done in 5 minutes, but at least you can optimize everything in order for you to unlock the Orion Mastery Calling Card a little bit faster.
How to Quickly Unlock the Orion Mastery Calling Card
Now, in order to make things a little bit faster, there are a couple of things that you’re going to want to do. This goes from changing your loadout, choosing certain types of match types and also altering the way you play the game. Here is a list detailing what you need to do. Credits to YTLukeyy for this method.
- Edit your loadout. Use as a primary weapon, well, the weapon that you need to level up (duh). Equip a launcher as a secondary weapon to destroy killstreaks, in order to passively level up it as well. Equip any lethal and tactical equipment you want. As your field upgrade, equip the Tactical Insertion if you can.
- Create a new perk package. To maximize the grind, equip the following perks: Scavenger, Tracker, Spotter and Ghost. This allows you to gain ammo from the battlefield, see your enemies footsteps and scorestreaks and UAVs, and be invisible. Of course, you need those perks unlocked to begin with (by the time you’re attempting to unlock the Mastery Calling Card you will be very well on level 55, I think).
- Play Invasion. Being a 32 vs. 32 team deathmatch with bots, you will be able to level up your guns and get a lot of kills in the process quite easily and quickly. (Note: bots don’t count towards unlocking camos, but they do count for levelling your weapons through XP).
- Locate a building on the map where you are close to the enemy’s spawn point and to an ammo box. With your ammo being able to replenish and having the advantage of seeing enemies’ footsteps thanks to your perks, you will spend the rest of the match here. Collect bot and player kills. You can use the Tactical Insertion here in order to re-spawn quickly in the same area.
- Be sure to destroy your enemies’ scorestreaks and UAVs with your launcher. These challenges take the most time, so be sure to destroy them as soon as you spot them thanks to the Spotter perk.
If you follow these steps, you will be able to unlock the Orion Mastery Calling Card in some time (I was going to say no time, but that would be an exaggeration). Go ahead and pile up those kills, you are going to need them to conquer this grinding extravaganza.
