How to Punt in Madden 24

Can you react quick enough to get the ball further down the field?

As the clock ticks away at every decision you make to get the ball as far down the field as possible, it can sometimes result in a flustered state where gaining 10 yards is harder than you would have liked. Because of this, a Punt is needed to change the pace of the game. Where momentum is just as important in this game as it is to score touchdowns and Field Goals, the act of hitting a successful Punt puts on just as much pressure when you are underperforming. If your opposition changes the Tempo in their favor when they have the upper hand, a Punt can feel like life or death in the moment. But it can also be the game changer needed to work in your favor. This is Vincent’s guide on how to hit a successful Punt in Madden 24.

How to Kick in Madden 24

There are many instances where you will need to kick the ball down the field in Madden 24. One of these is the Punt. But if you are a newcomer to the franchise, you may not know how to successfully kick the ball. Much like starting FIFA, there is no tutorial on how to successfully kick the ball from a field goal/penalty perspective. To start the kicking animation you will need to press X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox). From here, the meter will fill to a light blue where you need to aim for the white line (just before it) to get perfect power. Then as the meter drains, you want to time your accuracy in the kick just after the black line (where the X/A icon) can be scene for perfect accuracy. Accuracy is more important than power for Punts unless you are trying to send the ball down to the end zone.

How to Perform a Successful Punt in Madden 24

Punting is a specific type of kick used in Madden 24. It is used when the team fails to gain 10 yards on the field. Due to the limited amount of attempts given to hit a touchdown or increase the distance measured by the amount of yards gained past 10 yards, the plays will end and a Punt is needed to continue the game. This acts similarly to a the kick off in that the ball is given directly to the opposition. From here, the ball is placed into the opponent’s hand in which their plays start and your team switches to the defence. When a Punt is in play on Madden 24, the task at hand is to send it as far as you can down the field. The kick behaves similarly to performing a kick off or attempting to score a Field Goal in that it uses the same in-game mechanics.

The mechanics you need are X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox). Unlike in a kick off or shooting to get a goal, players need to assess what type of kick they wish to use. You can opt for a normal kick (R1/RB), a sky kick (Triangle/Y) or a backspin (L1/LB). The difference between each is how much ground you wish to cover with the normal kick acting like a kick off/field goal, a sky kick that goes straight up, giving your defenders enough time to get the ball over your opposition, and the backspin which looks to send the ball close to the end zone.

Keeping these differences in mind depending on the situation you are in, the chosen Punt technique should then be executed following where you place the ball via the indicator and then using X/A to initiate the kick.
