Iron Harvest is an incredibly difficult RTS war game, where the Great War, in an alternate history, has been visited by the invention of huge, destructive mechs. Take heed of one of the four factions and guide them to victory in the turmoil of war, the weapons of mass destruction by your side. Polania is the alternate Poland that has one of the quickest mechs of all. Here is how to play Polania in Iron Harvest.
How to play Polania in Iron Harvest
Polania’s roster of units
Polania as a whole specialized in being quick and being able to shoot far, so those attributes will need to be exploited.
Polania’s infantry has a very long range, which allows you to take cover further away from other enemies and still fire, as well as being able to cut down retreating enemies more effectively. The Riflemen are to be exploited for this, as it will be crucial in securing your place in the early game. Space out your infantry to allow them to support each other from range, which also mitigates artillery and AoE damage the enemy may attempt to inflict.
The beginner mechs of Polania are also incredible in the early game, but, like other tier-one mechs, are vulnerable without support. That being said, however, the Smialy mechs can hold their own against mechs and infantry.
The Smialy are incredible mechs that, if used properly, will allow you to really gain ground early game. Their long-range and armor-busting capabilities mixed with their incredible speed allow them to be responsive to threats and take down enemy tier-one mechs threatening your infantry.
With 2 – 3 Smialys, protected by technicians, will be a force to be reckoned with, applying a lot of pressure on your foes.
The rest of the mechs in Polania’s possession also serve a unique purpose each, be it the artillery, mech-busting, or infantry-slaying; their arsenal of mechs provides a very well-rounded experience.
Best strategies for Polania
Polania’s ranged infantry allow them to keep enemies at bay as long as they are behind cover anticipating a fight. Allow your infantry to defend positions instead of pushing your neck out too far, as the enemy will be able to push them back at closer ranges.

You cannot get away with mass producing mechs and leading a mech charge due to their expense, so gather infantry units and engineers and pick up weapon crates and systems that lie around, but keep some riflemen/grenadiers due to their range capabilities. This ground force will allow you to relatively hold a line whilst your engineers cause chaos by grabbing the enemy’s resource points (even if there are unclaimed resource points).
The Smialy and Straznik mechs will assist in keeping you infantry alive and responding to threats, but to push up to the enemy’s headquarters, you’ll need to wait for either high-power mechs, or more specialized infantry, as if the enemy are sitting on a force or have powerful mechs in the pipeline, your army will get defeated.
Make sure to use Polania’s speed and range to get ahead in the early game, but make quick strides to improve your arsenal and develop your ground force. Use Riflemen to cover engineers whilst they take strategic positions or resource points, and scatter them around to catch and repel enemy forces.
If you act quickly, domination or annihilation will be yours.
