How to Play Hogwarts Legacy on Mac

Hogwarts Legacy is taking millions of gamers’ attention as even the mild Harry Potter fans want to be in on the biggest HP video game. Most people who were able (PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 owners) grabbed their games on February 10 while some others will have to wait a bit.

Nevertheless, Macs don’t officially support Hogwarts Legacy at launch and no release dates have been released. This is why we decided to dive in and see what workarounds are available for Mac users.

Playing Hogwarts Legacy on Mac Explained

Even though Hogwarts Legacy isn’t officially available for Mac computers, that doesn’t mean it can’t be played on those machines. It just means that it will take extra effort on your side. Here are some of the ways that will allow you to join the Hogwarts adventure from a Mac.

Boot Camp

Boot Camp is a free macOS tool that allows you to install Windows OS and have it ready and available alongside macOS. Once you install Windows (10 or 11, the game works on both) you can install Hogwarts Legacy in a regular way and enjoy it.

The only disadvantage is that it can not be run on the latest Mac computers using M1 and M2 chips. It has to be an Intel chip, so an ideal situation would be for you to have a Mac that was released between 2012 and 2020.

OneCast

Another way of playing Hogwarts Legacy on your Mac is buying it for Xbox and using the OneCast app to play. OneCast is a game-streaming app that allows games from Xbox consoles to be cast onto supported devices that include Mac computers.

However, if you want to play it right now, you would have to have Xbox Series X/S since Hogwarts Legacy for Xbox One won’t release until April 4.

Cloud Gaming

Cloud Gaming is a great option for Mac users as well. It’s a streaming service that literally allows you to run your game from a remote setup of a cloud gaming company, which is then streamed on your computer. There are multiple cloud gaming services that you can subscribe to and they usually cost around $10-15 per month.

Currently, it seems Hogwarts Legacy works on the following cloud gaming platforms:

  • Boosteroid
  • Shadow
  • airgpu

In the end, a good thing to do would be that you contact the support of a company whose cloud gaming services you wish to use and double-check the game’s availability.
