There’s no question that the layup package in NBA 2K has evolved a tremendous amount over the past decade. At one point in time, all you had to do was press a single button to activate a single layup animation. Now, in NBA 2K23, there are seven different types of layups players can utilize.

Here’s a full list of the controls to perform each type of layup in NBA 2K23;

  • Quick Scoop Layup – Move and hold the Right Analog Stick left or right while driving.
  • Normal Layup – Move and hold the Right Analog Stick up while driving in close range.
  • Floater Layup – Move and hold the Right Analog Stick down while driving in close range.
  • Reverse Layup – Move and hold the Right Analog Stick to the right while driving along the baseline.
  • Euro Step Layup – Double-tap Square (for PlayStation) or X (for Xbox) when driving and holding the Left Analog Stick towards your off-hand. Or, move the Right Analog Stick to the right then quickly move and hold the Right Analog Stick left while driving with the ball in your right hand.
  • Cradle Layup – Double-tap Square (for PlayStation) or X (for Xbox) while driving and holding the Left Analog Stick towards your ball hand. Or, move the Right Analog Stick to the left then quickly move and hold the Right Analog Stick right while driving with the ball in your right hand.
  • Hop Step Layup – Tap Square (for PlayStation) or X (for Xbox) while driving. Or, move the Right Analog Stick either left or right, then quickly release and move and hold the Right Analog Stick back in the same direction while driving.
