How to Make an Ice Shiny Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Stay cosy when finding those Icy Shinies

Increase your Shiny odds through the Meal Powers of Picnic Sandwiches. In the base game, players can use the Picnic Reset and Town Method to enhance the chances of encountering a Shiny Pokémon in Scalet and Violet. But what do we do when we are looking for a specific Shiny Pokémon? With the starting odds of 1/4096, there are not many methods to increase your odds in encountering a specific Shiny Pokémon-Type. However, the new Picnic function, in combination with the post-game features, allows players to increase these odds tremendously. This is our guide on how to make an Ice Shiny Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

What is an Ice Shiny Sandwich?

An Ice Shiny Sandwich is one of the 17 Shiny Sandwiches that can be made in Scarlet and Violet using the Picnic function. Depending on what Pokémon-Type you are looking to encounter in Paldea, its corresponding Shiny Sandwich helps increase your chances by adding x3 Title Power, x3 Encounter Power and x3 Sparkling Power. These are used in the post-game due to the rarity of obtaining the Herba Mystica. But sandwich making can be used throughout the base-game experience. These sandwiches offer Meal Powers which last a total of 30 minutes.

Use them tactically when trying to encounter specific Pokémon to add to the Paldea Pokédex, or experiment with ingredients for finding those special rare Pokémon in Mass Outbreaks. A combination of the Shiny Charm, Town Method and Picnic Resets will increase your encountering odds tremendously. The Meal Powers offers different abilities based on the ingredients used. From common store-bought ingredients to rare Herbs.

The Powers that can be given to the players are:

  • Chance – Increased chance of encountering and catching all wild Pokémon sizes (small & large), Shiny and Titled Pokémon. Increase chance of obtaining Pokémon Eggs.
  • Bonus – EXP and dropped item increase.

Ice Shiny Sandwich Recipes

  • Simple Ice Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x1 Klawf Stick, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy/Sour Herba Mystica.
  • Intermediate Ice Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x1 Klawf Stick, x1 Cheese, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy/Sour/Sweet Herba Mystica.
  • Expert Ice Shiny Sandwich Recipe – x2 Klawf Stick, x1 Prosciutto, x1 Red Bell Pepper, x1 Green Bell Pepper, x1 Yellow Bell Pepper, x1 Spicy Herba Mystica & x1 Bitter Herba Mystica.

We need to find Klawf Sticks for the making of the Ice Shiny Sandwich. Depending on how many Herba Mystica ingredients you have already obtained will tell you which recipe you should complete. If you have already started farming 5- and 6-Star Raids, you will likely have multiple unused Bitter Herba Mystica in your Bag. If that is the case, we recommend completing the Expert Recipe. Whilst there are many more ingredients to buy to complete the sandwich, it will use up the Herba Mystica in your inventory.

For players just getting started, you should focus on the Intermediate Ice Shiny Sandwich Recipe. This will save you a lot of time and money in your search for the relevant ingredients. This guide will show you how to complete the Intermediate Ice Shiny Sandwich.

Where to Get Klawf Stick

Klawf Sticks are located in the Aquiesta Supermarket. This is found on the eastern side of Paldea in the city of Levincia. Levincia is on the eastern border of Paldea, overlooking the Eastern Paldean Sea. This core ingredient is on the more expensive side, sitting at 500 Pokémon Dollars. This is partially why we recommend players to complete the Intermediate Recipe. Although players are required to buy Cheese as well, the Expert Recipe requires many more store-bought items. Whilst players will likely have a lot of money spare in the post-game, if you wish to find all Shiny Pokémon Types, the Expert Recipe is not the way to go.

You can find the Aquiesta Supermarket in the exact spot on the screenshot below.

Where to Get Cheese

Cheese costs 120 Pokémon Dollars and can be bought in multiple Artisan Bakery stalls around the Paldea region. You can find Cheese in the areas:

  • Artisan Bakery, Mesagoza
  • Artisan Bakery, Porto Marinada (western side of Paldea)
  • Aquiesta Supermarket, Levincia

Depending on which recipe you decide to follow, the purchase of Cheese may not be necessary. It depends on how much money you have and what Herba Mystica you have already obtained through Raids. Below is an exact screenshot of where to buy Cheese in the Artisan Bakery, Mesagoza stall.

How to Get Herba Mystica

To find Herba Mystica, players must first complete the entirety of the Scarlet and Violet experience. With the game completed, you must gain access to the 5- and 6-Star Raids. Here is a step by step of what you need to do if you have not completed the game yet.

  • Obtain 18 Badges through the completion of Victory Road, Path of Legends and Starfall Street.
  • Beat the Final Boss of Scarlet and Violet, found in Area Zero.
  • After watching the credits, defeat the Gym Leaders again.
  • Win Academy Ace Tournament.
  • With access to 5-Star Raids, beat 15 5-Star Raids to unlock the 6-Star Raids.

The odds of obtaining Herba Mystica are very small. First of all, only a set handful of Tera Pokémon can drop each Herba Mystica. The chances of these Herbs dropping by a Tera Pokémon are 24% in 5-Star and 28% in 6-Star. Due to the difference in difficultly across both Raids, we recommend players go into 5-Star Raids. It is very important to note that players must look to fight specific Tera Pokémon (refer to the lists below) depending on the Herbs you are after. Due to the difficulty difference, it is more worth your while beating 5-Star Raids than 6 for farming Herba Mystica.

The Pokémon which can drop Herba Mystica with both the 24 and 28% chances are:

Salty Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Avalugg
  • Blissey
  • Cetitan
  • Corviknight
  • Dondozo
  • Garganacl
  • Hippowdon
  • Orthworm

Sweet Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Blissey
  • Cetitan
  • Dondozo
  • Goodra
  • Slowking
  • Tinkaton

Spicy Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Annihilape
  • Blissey
  • Breloom
  • Bombirdier
  • Baxcalibur
  • Cetitan
  • Ceruledge
  • Dragonite
  • Dondozo
  • Garchomp
  • Gallade
  • Gyarados
  • Kingambit
  • Mabostiff
  • Revavroom
  • Scizor
  • Salamence
  • Staraptor
  • Tauros
  • Tyranitar

Sour Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Armarouge
  • Blissey
  • Clawitzer
  • Cetitan
  • Dondozo
  • Glimmora
  • Gardevoir
  • Gengar
  • Magnezone
  • Volcarona

You can further increase your chances by focussing on an even smaller set of Tera Pokémon. These have much higher odds of 76% in 5-Star and 83% in 6-Star. However, due to its rarity in location these specific Raid Pokémon, you will have to also fight the 24 and 28% chance Tera Pokémon. If the higher chance Pokémon appear though, these are the Pokémon you must beat to have the greatest chances of obtaining Herba Mystica. These are:

5-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Gengar
  • Blissey
  • Glalie
  • Drifblim
  • Amoongus
  • Eelektross
  • Dondozo
  • Palafin
  • Cetitan

6-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Blissey
  • Amoongus
  • Vaporeon
  • Dondozo
  • Farigiraf
  • Cetitan

Those are the Pokémon you should focus on when looking for 5- and 6-Star Raids. With these high odds you are guaranteed to obtain Herba Mystica, however it will require a lot of patience. This is why if you have already gathered Bitter and Spicy Herbs, the Expert Recipe may be more appropriate to make.
