MMR (meaning Matchmaking Rating) is important for any online game, but especially one that has its only gameplay loop coming from said online multiplayer games. To put it simply, Hunt: Showdown is an online only game, meaning that, as a PVE and PVP, its matchmaking needs to be pretty polished and solid to give everyone a fighting chance at ever succeeding in the game sometimes. You win some and you loss some, after all.
How to Lower MMR in Hunt: Showdown
MMR in Hunt: Showdown is represented by the six possible stars players can see decked out just below their profile/Hunter on the main screen of its main menu. While this cannot be further investigated depending on the platform being played on (PC players can simply locate it from the game files), other elements can be noted to better understand how MMR works in the game.
For instance, KD (kills/death) ratio is a tracker that is continuously updated and can be visibly checked on its calculation across your games. This can be found in the Leaderboard tab located in the main menu. This number alongside all other factors of the game is what results in your MMR. These are namely gameplay achievements such as the following:

- Time alive in a match
- Kills per match
- Clues picked up per match
In the end, the simplest and easiest way to lose MMR is by getting killed by other players and avoiding doing any of the above. Better yet, if you get taken down by someone with a lower MMR compared to your own, you will get further penalized. Additionally, since Hunt: Showdown’s MMR are linked to both game modes of Quickplay and Duos/Trios, doing the same process in either will bring your MMR down.
MMR is also on a sort of timer like any other online MMR system found in other games. This automatic decay slightly decreases your MMR after 14 days of inactivity.
