How to Level Up Your Sport License in Sports Story

You got a license for that putter?

In the real world, you obviously don’t need a license to play sports. They’re just games, after all; requiring licensure would take the fun aspect out. Now, if the world as we know it was governed by sports like it is in Sports Story, that’d be a different discussion. Here’s how to level up your Sport License in Sports Story.

How to Level Up Your Sport License in Sports Story

In Sports Story, your ability to play sports and use relevant facilities is governed by your current Sport License. With a basic, C-Grade License, you can only really do the bare minimum, but as you level your License up, you can visit new locations on the world map, enter new shops in the Mall, and use new equipment to play new sports. In order to level your license up, though, you’ll need to prove you know how to use that gear you’re waving around.

Leveling up your Sport License is accomplished through Punch Cards, three-holed cards that serve as proof of success in the sporting ways. Whenever you complete a challenge in an exploration area, story-essential or otherwise, you’ll receive one punch on a fresh Punch Card. Complete three challenges, and you’ll have a completed Punch Card on your hands. Remember, challenges are typically denoted by a crossed-arrow sign over an NPC’s head in an exploration area, though you should talk to anyone and everyone, as this won’t always be the case.

In order to raise your License Grade, you need to obtain a certain number of completed Punch Cards, then take them to the License association in the mall. You’ll visit it as part of the story to receive your first C-Grade License, it’s to the left of the mall’s front entrance.

To get your basic License, you’ll need three completed Punch Cards, plus a nominal fee of $4.75. Don’t worry, that’s the only time they’ll charge you for this. After you’ve got your base License, you can check your current number of Punch Cards in the pause menu. When you’ve got some more Punch Cards in your travels, return to the association and use the computer terminal between the desks to insert them.

You’ll need more Punch Cards to reach each subsequent level on your License, so keep knocking out those challenges! As your License grade raises, you can enter new stores in the Mall, like the cycling shop, soccer shop, and tennis shop, and purchase basic gear for those sports. The more you prove yourself, the more sports you can try!
