How to Heal in Jagged Alliance 3

Get down Mr President, I need to heal

Jagged Alliance has returned to our PC monitors after a 24 year wait. Although I highly doubt the fanbase was twiddling their thumbs for a completed trilogy of this series, those who appreciate the strategy of combat with a birds eye view of all happenings, as if the camera acted as a drone watching their squad from above, would get the surprise of their life when Jagged Alliance 3 hit heights similar to its predecessor. For those who are looking to increase their squad and keep their team alive throughout the intense mission of saving the President. With various ways to keep your squad alive, this is Vincent’s guide on how to heal Mercenaries in Jagged Alliance 3.

How to Save your Mercenaries in Jagged Alliance 3

Your primary way of healing your Mercenaries is actually through exploration and looting. As you move across the land to the next POI you may come across plants that can be interacted with. You will know if you come across any by the white highlight going around the entire plant, allowing you to click on it. Let your selected Mercenary approach and pick up the Herbs. Medical Herbs are used to refill Med Kits on Mercs that have Medical Training (Med Kit or First Aid Kit in their Inventory) or be used as a form of currency to heal Mercs through more official means and outside of combat.

You need to keep in mind that each healing item works differently. For example, those who need to be Bandaged due to wounds where bleeding needs to be controlled, the best way to treat them at Treatment Operations or Hospitals via the Satellite. Although you can treat with First Aid Kits if you have a Merc with Medical Training on your squad, you may find that the Satellite provides more consistency in healing with Bandages. Treating your Mercs this way costs Meds (Operations) or requires a Sector where a Hospital can be found. For flesh wounds, you will need to heal using the Meds you gain through salvaging First Aid Kits to prioritize health replenishment above Bandages and collecting Medical Herbs off plants in exploration.

It is a good idea to have Mercs with high Wisdom so that you can collect Meds faster than over squad compositions. Remember that you must have someone with Medical Training for their First Aid and Med Kits, otherwise you will spend the entirety of your playthrough spending Meds at Treatment Operations.
