One of the new weapons added to the game is The Last Argument Spike Thrower. This weapon is legendary and can take out just about anything in its path effortlessly! Keep reading to find out how to get your hands on The Last Argument Spike Thrower in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

How to Get the Last Argument Spike Thrower in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores

The Last Argument Spike Thrower is arguably (no pun intended) one of the best weapons in the game. Getting your hands on this epic weapon can be a bit of a complicated process, but it’s well worth the effort! The Last Argument Spike Thrower is a legendary weapon that can effortlessly take out nearly any threat!

Unfortunately, there’s only one way for players to obtain the Last Argument Spike Thrower in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. In order to add this wicked weapon to your collection, you’ll first have to complete the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins puzzle, which only becomes accessible once the main story questline of “To the Burning Shores” is completed.

(Technically, players are able to reach the location of this puzzle directly after starting the DLC, but they won’t actually be able to solve it until the main questline has been completed.)

Once you’ve completed the puzzle of the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins, a special side quest called “A Friend in the Dark” will become unlocked. By completing this side quest, you’ll be rewarded with the Last Argument Spike Thrower.

How to Complete the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins Puzzle

You’ll need to complete this puzzle successfully if you want to get access to the crucial “A Friend in the Dark” side quest. Without that side quest, you’ll never be able to earn the Last Argument Spike Thrower in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores!

Thankfully, however, the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins puzzle isn’t nearly as difficult as it seems. By following the steps below, you’ll have the puzzle completed and the side quest unlocked in no time!

  • Travel to the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins via flight on Aloy’s Sunwing.
    • These ruins are located in the center of the Burning Shores map.
  • Upon arrival, look around for a rooftop with a blue clamp and a perch area. When this area is located, land.
  • Approach the blue clamp and interact with it to open a secret room below.
  • Climb the shaft nearby and scan the purple datapoint. Doing this should grant you an important secret passcode: 1315.
  • Once you’ve got the code, head back outside.
  • Look around nearby for a lit campfire and approach it.
    •  One of Horizon Forbidden West’s fast travel points.
  • Behind the campfire, there should be a metal bar, which Aloy can repel from. Doing this will grant players access to an underground area full of old train cars.
  • To the left of the underground area, there should be a train car whose door can be pried open by the player. Pry the door open and pull the lever inside the train car.
    • Doing this will cause the train to begin moving, so don’t be startled when that happens!
  • Remove the train’s energy cell from its side and move it to the opposite side of the area.
  • Opposite the key module door, there should be another train car. Put the energy cell into the slot on the side of the other train car.
  • Once the energy cell has powered it up, pry the door open and pull the lever inside, which should cause the train car to begin rolling backward.
  • Head over to the locked door on the right and input the secret passcode obtained earlier: 1315.
  • Go inside and collect Kyle’s Last Ball Ornament. Doing this will complete the Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruins puzzle.
    • And it will also unlock the “A Friend in the Dark” side quest!

How to Unlock the “A Friend in the Dark” Side Quest

Although this side quest is technically optional, you’ll need to complete it if you want the Last Argument Spike Thrower in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.

Don’t worry, however; this side quest is relatively easy to complete, and unlocking it is even easier! Just follow these steps after grabbing Kyle’s Last Ball Ornament:

  • Exit the room and retrieve the energy cell from the train car.
  • Reenter the room and use the energy cell to open the other door in the room.
  • On the other side of the door, there should be an Auxiliary Key Module. Use this module to open the other nearby door.
  • Opening the door should trigger the beginning of the “A Friend in the Dark” side quest.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll have unlocked the crucial “A Friend in the Dark” side quest! Just complete this short quest to earn the Last Argument Spike Thrower!
