Gold Camo Assault Rifles

Since the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, players have the option to grind for Gold Camo on eight Assault Rifles. These are:

  • M4
  • TAQ-56
  • KASTOV 762
  • LACHMANN-556
  • STB 556
  • M16
  • KASTOV- 74U
  • KASTOV 545

Base Challenges

The reoccurring base challenge that exists for every Assault Rifle is: Get 50 kills with the Assault Rifle.
Every Assault Rifle has four Base Challenges to complete to unlock the Gold Camo Challenge. The Base Challenges vary depending on which Assault Rifle you are trying to get Gold with. But these challenges appear across multiple Assault Rifles. Examples of these challenges are:

  • Get 50 Kills while ADS with the Assault Rifle (M4, TAQ-54 and KASTOV 762)
  • Get 10 Double kills with the Assault Rifle (M4)
  • Get 15 Kills from behind with the Assault Rifle (M4)
  • Get 30 Kills while crouched with the Assault Rifle (M16)
  • Get 20 Kills while mounted with the Assault Rifle (M16)
  • Get 15 Hipfire Kills with the Assault Rifle (TAQ-56)

Unlocking the Assault Rifles

The Assault Rifles are unlocked at different levels. These are separated by Player Level and Weapon Level. Some Assault Rifles require the player to level up another Assault Rifle in order to unlock and grind to complete the Base Challenges. The levels players require to unlock these Assault Rifles are:

  • M4 – unlocked at Player Level 4
  • TAQ-56 – unlocked at Player Level 19
  • KASTOV 762 – unlocked at Player Level 23
  • STB 556 – unlocked at Player Level 41
  • M16 – unlocked at Weapon Level 13 on 556 ICARUS (LMG)
  • LACHMANN-556 – unlocked at Weapon Level 13 on LACHMANN-762 (Battle Rifle)
  • KASTOV-545 – unlocked at Weapon Level 10 on KASTOV-762 (Assault Rifle)
  • KASTOV-74U – unlocked at Weapon Level 13 on KASTOV-545 (Assault Rifle)

Levelling Up the Assault Rifle

To unlock every Base Challenge, players will need to level up their weapon of choice. The best Game Modes to play to level up the Assault Rifles fast is Invasion, Domination, and Ground War. Use the Ghost Perk to be undetectable by UAVs and the Field Upgrades Munitions box to replenish ammo and TAC Insertion to respawn near the enemy lines. Whilst leveling up the weapon which unlocks the Assault Rifles: M16, LACHMANN-556, KASTOV-545, and KASTOV-74U, players will want to simultaneously level up and complete the gun’s Base Challenges.

Tips for Completing Base Challenge: Get 15 Kills from Behind

Players should use the Perks Tracker, Ghost, and Double Time when attempting the 15 Kills from Behind Base Challenge. The Field Upgrade Dead Silence is really useful here too. Players need to shoot the enemy when they are not facing them, so it is vital that you are using a class where you are hard to detect. Flash and Stun Grenades are helpful if you are struggling to shoot players undetected from behind.

Tips to Complete the Gold Camo Challenge

There are 4 Base Challenges to complete in order to unlock and attempt the Gold Camo challenge. The Gold Camo Challenge for all Assault Rifles is: Get 3 Kills without dying 10 times with the Assault Rifle.

Players should equip suppressors on the Assault Rifles. Apply the Scavenger and Tracker in the first selection of Perks. Apply Fast Hands in the second selection of Perks and Ghost or High Alert in the third and final selection. High Alert will allow you to see on-screen indicators when an enemy is aiming at you. If you are unable to get 3 kills within quick succession without dying, it may be far more effective to play slower and stealthier with High Alert enabled so that you can easily move in and out of cover. This will allow you to live longer in a single life.

Of course, being as unnoticeable as you can be on the field is just as helpful but relies on the players to be more alert of their surroundings and to never overextend in a fight. We recommend players to attempt the Gold Camo Challenge as patiently as possible, picking up ammo when needed and maintaining invisibility on the map so that it is harder for enemies to track you.
