Unlocking skins in Midnight Suns is a fairly simple process to explain. The act of unlocking them, however, might require a bit of game time or even money. The player-created character called The Hunter is the only character in which you can unlock all their skins simply by playing the game. Progressing through the main missions as well as doing other tasks will be the main way of not only unlocking all of The Hunters skins but some of the other Marvel heroes’ outfits as well. Aside from that, the game will posses marketplace housing skins for other characters in the game. These skins can be purchased by using the Eclipse Credits, which can only be obtained by using real-world money.

Alternatively, some of the skins initially available in the marketplace can be unlocked from the beginning by purchasing the Digital+ or Legendary edition. Digital+ gives you 11 extra skins, while the even pricier Legendary version gives you a whopping 23 skins along with a bunch of extra stuff.

It may seem at a glance that Midnight Suns will lock all the really cool skins behind the marketplace. But I have faith that the skins unlocked through the progression of the game will satiate players who don’t feel like coughing up the extra change. Thanks to the description of the game’s season pass, we know that along with new characters being added to the game, we’re going to see more skins for heroes new and old. However, if you don’t own the season pass when these skins drop, they will be another shiny outfit stuck behind the paywall of the marketplace.
