How to Get Quick Balls in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

While nontraditional PokéBalls have been a thing since Generation II, the ones introduced in Generation IV are definitely some of the most useful. One of my favorites has always been the Quick Ball, which has a 5x catch rate if used right at the start of an encounter. Whether you’re just bumming around a route or hunting for shinies, it’s nice to be able to quickly catch a Pokémon without having to go through the whole weakening song and dance. You should always have a stack of Quick Balls on hand when possible, so here’s how to get Quick Balls in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

While you can occasionally find PokéBalls just laying around in the wild, Quick Balls are a bit more of a commodity, not something people lose track of. As such, the only way to get Quick Balls is by buying them from a PokéMart for 1,000 dollars a pop. Unfortunately, the first few major cities don’t stock Quick Balls in their PokéMart; the earliest you’ll be able to buy them is in Pastoria City, home of the fourth Gym headed by Crasher Wake. After that, you can buy Quick Balls at PokéMarts in the following locations:

  • Pastoria City
  • Celestic Town
  • Canalave City
  • Snowpoint City
  • Pokémon League

If you’d like a free stack of Quick Balls, there is an additional method you can use, at least until February 2022. Everyone who either bought a digital copy of Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl or registered their physical copy should have received an email with a Mystery Gift code. Just open Mystery Gift from your menu, connect to the internet, and enter the code you received, and you’ll get a stack of 12 Quick Balls, no strings attached. This only works once, though, so after you’ve used them up, you’ll need to buy more from PokéMarts.
