How to Get Past the Flowers in Forever Skies

When pesticide isn't available

The dangers of the Underdust are infinite. What with the persistent threat of low oxygen levels and the unforgiving conditions of the new, yet ruined Earth. Being the sole explorer of the world beneath the toxic dust can be a lonely place and whilst mother nature is there to keep you company, those gigantic plants that have overtaken Earth are not too pleased about your presence. Seen as a threat to their habitat, they will stop at nothing to halter your progression in uncovering the dust’s secrets. This is Vincent’s guide on how to deal with the flowers in Forever Skies.

How to Deal with Flowers in Forever Skies

As you already probably knew, this is not referring to all plants that you will come across in Forever Skies. The specific plants we are referring to are those that have some kind of sentience or instinctual defensive system much like the venus fly trap. These dangerous flowers are intimidating to handle and often limit you from continuing your exploration of the Underdust. Unlike other plants and nature that can either be picked up or destroyed using the knife, you will find that getting close to the giant flowers is impossible.

To deal with the lethal flowers you need to craft a Hypothermia Booster. But in order to do so you will need to isolate Chromavirus using the Virus Analyzer. You need to get a Dust Daisy for the research, these are the maroon flowers with yellow pollen at its centre. You can find these close to the base elevator in the Underdust.

If you have not found the Virus Analyzer, you need to head up the ladder on the left-hand side of the Underdust from the base entrance. From the ladder, use the Extractor on the gold coated walls that will remove them, gaining Metal after destruction. You need to climb upwards, following the route around using the environment and parkouring across gaps. Be sure to grab Crystal Batteries and use these on any Oxygen Stands to refill your Tank. At the next ladder, pick up another Crystal Battery and you will find the Analyzer on this level that will need scanning.

After analysing the Chromavirus, go to the Research Station for Hypothermia Booster research. You can then create the Booster via the Basic Fabricator. The Booster should be used right before you try to walk past the giant flower. You can select it via your Inventory to use. This will allow you to walk right past the flower as it will become docile and immobile, much like every other plant in Forever Skies.
