How to Find Nails in Darkwood

There are two ways to get nails in Darkwood: through scavenging and through trading. There is, unfortunately, no way to craft them. It is a finite resource, only renewable through trade, so be frugal with them.

Out in the Wild

Sure, they don’t grow on trees, but there are plenty out there to fool someone into thinking they do. Darkwood manages to somehow fit a staggering amount of content into the map you play on, through compact landmarks and unmarked resource points.

As you explore, make sure to always have space in your inventory to haul the things you find back to base. Any missed crates or containers will not show up on the map. Throughout your travels, you will find crates, each needing a lockpick to open. Make sure you always have a lockpick with you, else you may forget where the crate was and never reveal its spoils.

Through scavenging this way, you will find many, many nails. Try not to stress if you struggle to find any, just keep looking, and stay vigilant.

It’s Not What You Know, It’s Who You Know

After the second night, the trader will appear in your home and time will freeze. Every day, you will gain 100 reputation, which is the ‘currency’ in Darkwood. You can sell items to gain more reputation, and buying items depletes it.

The trader will have 20 nails on him every day, each costing merely 2 reputation. If you want, you can stock right up on nails daily, for not too much of a cost, allowing you to put some reputation aside for future purchases.

With those two methods, you can relax. Soon, nails won’t be as scarce as you think.
