How to Get Mods in Gorilla Tag

Gorilla Tag is funny, but mods would make it funnier.

Gorilla Tag is a fun little way to utilize the particular tech of a VR headset. In Gorilla Tag, you can only move with your arms, which eliminates the need to track your leg movements. It’s a funny game as it is, but you know what would make it funnier? Some silly mods. Here’s how to get mods in Gorilla Tag.

How to Get Mods in Gorilla Tag

The first thing you should do is download and install a mod utility. You can technically manage mods on your own, but it’s a rather unwieldy process and generally unnecessary when a mod manager is much safer and quicker. For Gorilla Tag, the mod utility of choice is Monke Mod Manager. You can download it from this link, and install it on the same drive you have Gorilla Tag installed. You might get a false positive from your antivirus, but don’t worry, it’s safe to run.

Once the Monke Manager is set up, the next step is getting some mods. The best place to look and ask for those is the Gorilla Tag Mods Discord server. There’s a list of download links there, as well as some friendly folks that’ll answer any questions you have.

After you’ve downloaded some mods, move them to the same folder you’re keeping the Monke Manager so you don’t lose track of them. The manager’s API will automatically detect any recognized mod files. When you want to enable one, just click the checkmark. When everything’s selected, click the Install button and let the manager do its thing.

Once the mods are installed, launch Gorilla Tag, close it, then launch it again. This is a necessary step to properly run the manager’s mod loader. The second time you launch Gorilla Tag, any mods you’ve enabled should be live. Incidentally, the game’s developers don’t mind players using mods, though they advise to only use them on private servers. Attempting to enter a public server with mods installed could result in a ban.

Can you Mod Gorilla Tag without a PC?

Unfortunately, no. Even if you were playing Gorilla Tag on an independent Oculus headset, there’s no way to perform the file management necessary for installing mods without connecting the headset to a PC.
