How to Get Infected Flesh in Dead Island 2 – Francesca’s Muse Quest Guide

You wouldn't think finding flesh in a flesh stack would be so tricky

Infected Flesh is common amongst the long list of Zombie Horror Games. Whilst it often provides little usage throughout, sometimes, in extreme cases the item can be consumed as a small ‘health’ boost if you are desperate (Minecraft, I am looking at you). In the case of Dead Island however, thankfully no one is attempting to consume any Infected Flesh. Hopefully no one in LA has gone down the cannibalism route yet, we do not need another Gareth eating Bob situation on our hands. But Infected Flesh has its use in the form of obtaining it for the peculiar Francesca. In fact, she is looking for her muse and it up to you to locate it for her in the form of Infected Flesh. This guide will show you where to obtain Infected Flesh in Dead Island 2.

How to Complete Francesca’s Muse

As this is for a Quest, Deep Silver Dambuster Studios like making the task at hand harder due to the scarce opportunity of lifting Infected Flesh from the body of Zombies. It is a bizarre thought that you cannot get Infected Flesh whenever you please in this game seeing as the streets are covered in it, but oh well. Infected Flesh has a limited, rarer drop rate than other items. For this reason, the Gamer Journalist team highly recommend that you complete the Giant Slayer Quest in Dead Island 2. This will allow the Flesh to drop but from a set list of Zombies in the game. You need to collect a total of 10 Infected Flesh that can be found or collected from any of these Zombie Types or environments:

  • Walkers (Spiky, Shocking, Swarm, Grenadier, Incendiary, Firefighter, Hazmat, Burning, Riot Gear and Hydration)
  • Bursters
  • Shamblers
  • Inside Medical Centers

Where to Find Infected Flesh in Dead Island 2

The problem with this Questline is that it can take a long time to complete. Not only do you need to pick up Infected Flesh a total of 10 times off the Zombie Types listed above or from a Medical Center, the drop of Infected Flesh is also not guaranteed every time. For this reason, this Gamer Journalist writer recommends you focus your efforts on completing other Quests or looting throughout LA whilst paying attention to the lower-levelled Zombies such as the common Walkers. You should take these out throughout your playthrough and loot their corpses whenever you can. This will allow you take out multiple within a short period of time without you honing in on the Quest and getting frustrated when Infected Flesh is not found.

Alternatively, you could take on tougher enemies under harder circumstances such as Bursters and Shamblers. Whilst the drop is increased by killing these Zombies over the more common Types in Dead Island 2, you may find it easier to leave the Quest running in the background as you slowly build the Infected Flesh counter to 10 by looting corpses whenever you are skirmishing an area or completing other objectives. Infected Flesh will drop when you take out a Zombie, you will need to interact with the loot to pick it up and add onto the counter. Be sure to keep this in your inventory so you can give it to Francesca.
