One big part of this game that helps you survive is crafting and building. Crafting of course requires many ingredients and items that are found in nature and one of the most vital ones is chitin. Read on to find out what is the easiest way to get chitin and how can it benefit you.

Where Can You Find Chitin in Smalland: Survive the Wilds?
Chitin will be obtained from Sawyer Beetles near the coastal area south of Kalev. Once you get to Skadi go south and you should be able to find many Sawyer Beetles. After you kill them they will drop chitin, beetle heart, and insect fat.
Sawyer Beetles are quite tanky so make sure you are well prepared when you go to attack them and don’t engage multiple insects at once when going for a Sawyer Beetle kill. Take the strongest weapon you have and you can even bring a tamed grasshopper with you to help you kill the Beetle as quickly as possible.
You will need chitin for upgrading tools and getting your hands on the Crude Hatchet that will allow you to farm some tougher and rarer materials.
How Can You Get Heavy Chitin in Smalland: Survive the Wilds?
In the later stages of the game, when you reach the skill and tools that will allow you to create some stronger equipment you will need to find heavy chitin. You can get this resource in the Graylands by killing Cockroaches and Stag Beetles. Keep in mind that these are high-tier insects so you will need more damage to bring them down, and stronger armor to resist their attacks.
