Venturing out at night can be a scary thought, especially for those just getting started in DREDGE. It is crucial that you upgrade the Boat whenever you can so that you can survive out there for as long as possible. You may have expected a peaceful adventure away from the mundane everyday life of living on land, but going out into the bottomless abyss of the Ocean waves proves to be a task that only a few Sailors can take. Nothing is peaceful out in the Ocean and nowhere is safe. But worrying about the swarms of Piranhas and Jellyfish is nothing compared to those Lovecraftian horrors that lurk below. But sometimes, Insanity can help a player out. Especially those looking to get the Banisher Achievement in DREDGE. This is our full guide on how to unlock this Achievement.
How to Get Banisher Ability in DREDGE
The Banish Ability can only be obtained by completing the primary Pursuit within Stellar Basin of locating the third Relic: The Ring and handing this to the Collector. Players must complete a set of steps needed in locating The Ring, these are as follows:
- Speak with the Research Assistant in the Old Fortress to get the Collect All Samples Pursuit. The first step is to find the 3 Surface Samples. These are Aurora Jellyfish, Firefly Squid and Glowing Octopus. These require a Trawl Net to catch.
- Next, you will need to find the Prototype Parts in the Research Outpost in Stellar Basin. This is located in the Laboratory.
- Connect the Research Repulsion Machine to the Generator in the Research Outpost.
- Purchase Bottomless Fishing Line from Travelling Merchant.
- Hunt for The Ring Relic at night at the Research Outpost, using the Repulsion Machine to keep the sea monsters at bay.
- Head South-West from the Research Outpost Dock and go towards the centre of the Stellar Basin. You should have a red cross marking the spot for The Ring Relic Treasure.
- Return The Ring to the Collector at Blackstone Isle to obtain the Banishing Ability.
How to Unlock Banisher Achievement in DREDGE
To obtain the Banisher Achievement, players need to find and Banish a total of 10 threats. Whilst you are not required to Banish 10 different species of fish to obtain this Achievement, it can be tough knowing what does and does not go onto the threat counter towards this Achievement. Keep in mind however that the Achievement bio does not specify that you must Banish fish. In fact, as you will have completed the Pursuit ‘Collect All Samples’ for the Research Assistant, you will be very used to the way that Stellar Basin runs. You should know about the leading threat within this Region on the Map of the Stellar Basin Creature. You can of course Banish this fish, although temporarily to count towards the Achievement.
What Threats to Target for Banishment
When looking for other species to Banish, these count as anything that attacks the Boat. Therefore, you will want to head into the Sea at night as this is when the majority of fish out here will attack the player. You will need to utilize the Banishing Ability on your Ability Wheel to utilize this move. You can also use the Banishing Ability against any birds that will try and take away the fish that you are trying to catch within the Mellows.
The main threats in the game that you will come across are Angler Fish, Piranhas, Red Jellyfish, Mind Suckers. You do not need to try and find different species for this Achievement. When you have successfully Banished species that appear often throughout the night, whether that is inside the Mist where you experience Insanity, or by drifting out into the Sea into the darkness, that species can be Banished repeatedly. All you have to do is Dock and wait for night to return once again. Then you return to Sea and Banish the same species once more and this will count towards the Achievement counter.
The Bosses of DREDGE
For those struggling to count the smaller threats for the Achievement, such as the Angler Fish or Piranhas, you can also Banish the Bosses of the Regions in DREDGE. These are the Stellar Basin Creature, Gale Cliff’s One-Eyed Serpent, Coastal Basin Kraken, and Devil’s Spine Unseeing Mother. These will all count towards the Achievement and can be Banished multiple times which can help a player out if you are struggling to Banish other species at night.
Keep in mind that having high Panic from the Mist at night will result in a visit from the Tentacle. Whilst this can be Banished, all of these Bosses are putting your Boat at risk. So with this high risk, high reward play, you should be able to get the Banisher Achievement in DREDGE in no time.
