Potion Craft is a delightful game for the would-be alchemist. Though most of the game is extremely intuitive, getting minerals and other elements in Potion Craft isn’t exactly obvious. In Potion Craft, you have various herbalists and other townsfolk and craftspeople who come along to sell you things at your storefront in addition to the many customers and their demands.
Fortunately, your customers are patient — but if you don’t already have minerals and items containing minerals in stock and they need them, they’ll have to come back another day. The satisfaction of making a new potion — especially a potion a customer needs — is the most rewarding part of playing Potion Craft. So how do you find minerals in Potion Craft, and what do you use them for?
What Do You Use Minerals For in Potion Craft?
If you’ve completed Chapter I, you’ve likely encountered some hurricane-looking icons on your map:
You’ve also seen the bone zones:
If you go to the bone zone, your potion fails and your effort “dies.” While you still get to keep any knowledge (experience) gained from any books you encountered along the way, it’s curtains for you if you end up in the bone zone.
Minerals and the items you can make with them permit you to “fly over” bone zones, landing directly in one of the wind swirl spots. Because of this, the value of minerals is quite high. You’ll get a fun little animation here when it’s time for your teleportation effect to occur.

It’s possible to get to most places on the map without minerals, but it sure is a lot easier when you don’t have to navigate bone zones or only use half the potential of a component (adding it whole instead of grinding it in the mortar) just to get there. Minerals can help you get somewhere on the map safely in Potion Craft without consuming the larger amount of herbs and mushrooms it might normally take to get there.
Potion Craft Minerals Tip: It’s important to note that your potion expands a bit more than other types at the start and end of your journey on the map. As a result, if you’re too close to a bone zone, you risk potion failure during the expansion phase and animation.
Get Minerals From the Miner in Potion Craft
Minerals come to your storefront thanks to the miner. He goes and mines in the mountains, and then brings his components to you for the low cost of… well, a lot. Minerals are unfortunately expensive.
Like any merchant, the miner will show up to your storefront to sell you things. While it is somewhat random, there is an element of game progression here. The miner will begin showing up to your Potion Craft storefront just before you need the elements — usually in Chapter II.
How to Find the Miner
If you don’t have any more customers in the queue, you’ll have to wait until the miner comes back around. Sometimes he will come multiple times per day. If you require something that needs minerals, specifically if a customer asks for something like that, you will have to end the conversation so they move on. As always happens when you disappoint a customer, this will have a negative effect on your reputation in town.
Your miner looks just like you might expect for a medieval fellow of this profession:
How Much Do Minerals Cost in Potion Craft?
As the miner says in his intro, his wares are not cheap. If only he took strength potions to help with his mining in exchange for his goods! You’re looking at spending hundreds on minerals when it comes time to buy, and unless you’ve saved your money from the beginning of the game, you likely can’t afford what he has to sell the first time he shows up.
As you can see here, the merchant’s starting wares cost over 300 gold apiece. Ouch!
Once you get your minerals, they work largely like other components. However, there is a crushing phase added to the mortar and pestle action. You’ll have to crush these harder elements before you can grind them. Once they’re crushed, they grind up like plant material components without a problem.
The types of minerals you can get include:
- Cloud Crystal
- Life Crystal
- Earth Pyrite
- Arcane Crystal
- Blood Ruby
- Frost Sapphire
- Fire Citrine
- Fable Bismuth
- Plague Stibnite
Each of these has its own icon, with the Life Crystal looking like a cute green heart.
Unfortunately, the Potion Craft tutorial doesn’t cover minerals, but they do show up eventually thanks to the miner. If you’re interested in using minerals right away to teleport around the bone zones, make sure you save your money. Complete the actions you need to advance the story (it will ask you to buy from a merchant), but remain frugal until it’s time to get the minerals.
