One of the weird things about Pokémon is how many of them are overtly non-organic. Pokémon like Magnemite or Nosepass have no discernable fleshy bits, and I sincerely hope they don’t have any under the hood. It’s an odd subject, but then again, Pokémon are odd creatures. For instance, you wave a magnet in front of a dog or something, he’ll probably just think it’s a treat. You wave a magnet in front of a Magneton and it evolves. I’m no physicist, though, so maybe that’s normal. If you’d like to try for yourself, here’s how to get a Magnetic Lure in Pokémon GO.
What is a Magnetic Lure in Pokémon GO?
Magnetic Lure Modules are one of the several varieties of special Lure Modules you can obtain in Pokémon GO. Much like a vanilla Lure Module, when you deploy one at a PokéStop, it’ll cause a greater occurrence of wild Pokémon nearby for about 30 minutes. The difference with the Magnetic Lure in particular is that Magnetic Lures cause a greater occurrence of specifically Electric, Steel, and Rock type Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Magnemite, Nosepass, and Alolan Geodude. Additionally, while in the presence of an active Magnetic Lure Module, Magneton and Nosepass can evolve into Magnezone and Probopass, respectively. You can tell when a PokéStop has an active Magnetic Lure Module when there’s a bunch of little metal blocks floating around it.
How to Get a Magnetic Lure in Pokémon GO
So how do you actually get a Magnetic Lure Module? Simple: cough up for it. The only consistent way to get a Magnetic Lure Module is to buy one from the in-game store for 200 PokéCoins, which is roughly equivalent to $2.00 USD. The obvious way to get coins is to just buy them in packs from the store, though you can also earn up to 50 coins a day by putting one of your Pokémon in charge of a Gym. Of course, that’s assuming they stay up there all day and aren’t knocked off their perch.
Besides the store, you can occasionally earn a Magnetic Lure Module by completing certain Special Research Tasks. Of course, there’s no way of predicting or controlling which tasks you get and when, so you’re just going to have to hope you get lucky and get one with a Magnetic Lure as a reward.
