How to Fix Disney Dreamlight Valley Connectivity Issues

Hang on, gotta restart my imagination...

The imagination is a fickle thing. Sometimes you think you have the best idea for a story ever conceived, and then a moment later it completely falls out of your head. This is more of a problem when you’re living in a world entirely powered by imagination like in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Time to troubleshoot that imagination. Here’s how to fix Disney Dreamlight Valley connectivity issues.

How to Fix Disney Dreamlight Valley Connectivity Issues

Generally speaking, there are four ways you can remedy an inability to connect to Disney Dreamlight Valley, or at least determine a concrete reason you can’t log in. Those ways are:

  • Verify the status of the game server
  • Restart your computer/console
  • Check your internet
  • Disable/Enable VPNs

Verify Server Status

As a life sim game with schedules and timetables, Disney Dreamlight Valley has a lot of moving parts that can easily grind up against one another. Whether a new update borked the server, a lot of players are trying to connect, or something just went screwy for no reason, a serverside problem is the most probable cause of connectivity issues.

To verify the current status of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s servers, visit the game’s official Twitter page. If there are widespread outages or errors, the devs will have a report up confirming that they’re working on a fix. Assuming the problem is serverside, you’ll just have to wait until it’s fixed.

Restart Your Computer/Console

If you’re reasonably certain the problem isn’t on the game’s end, it’s time for some troubleshooting. The first thing you should try is restarting the platform you’re playing the game on. Close the game down entirely and turn your device all the way off and on. Sometimes, a quick reboot is all you need to refresh your files and get things rolling again.

Check Your Internet

If your device seems fine, check on your internet connection. Run a few tests to determine if your connection is steady, like streaming long videos or playing a different online game. If your connection seems slow or spotty, there could be a problem with it.

Try power-cycling your wi-fi router (i.e. unplugging it and plugging it back in), switching to a wired connection instead of a wireless one, and verifying the status of your service with your provider’s website or phone number. There may be an outage or maintenance going on in your area.

Enable/Disable VPNs

VPNs are good for those who don’t want their internet activity monitored by their provider or bad actors. That said, some games don’t get along super well with VPNs. If you’re using one, try disabling it to see if Disney Dreamlight Valley becomes more receptive.

On the flip side, if you’re on a metered or monitored connection, a VPN could be what you need to skirt any built-in security protocols that prevent the game from connecting. If you’ve got a VPN to use, try turning it on.

If you’re still having problems connecting to Disney Dreamlight Valley, visit Gameloft’s official support page for the game for more information. Drink some tea too, that always helps my imagination.
