What is Vinegar Used for in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Vinegar is an ingredient which players can purchase and use in the Picnic portion of Scarlet and Violet. Similar to Camping in Sword and Shield, players can interact with their Pokémon, through talking, playing and cooking for the Pokémon in their active party. Whilst this is not a compulsory aspect in Scarlet and Violet, Picnics allow players to boost the happiness of their Pokémon and obtain temporary powers which aid players in their journey to catching Pokémon.
The temporary powers which you can obtain through feeding your Pokémon sandwiches are:
- Catching – Increasing your chances of catching a specific Pokémon-Type.
- EXP – Earn more EXP Points after a battle against a specific Pokémon-Type.
- Egg – Better locator for Pokémon eggs in your Picnic basket.
- Encounter – Increases your chances of finding a specific Pokémon.
- Humungo – Increases your chances of finding a specific large Pokémon.
- Teensy – Increases your chances of finding a specific small Pokémon.
- Title – Increases your chances of finding a Pokémon with a title.
- Sparkling – Increases your chances of finding a specific Shiny Pokémon.
- Item Drop – Obtain more dropped items from certain Pokémon.
- Raid – Obtain more dropped items from a Tera Raid Pokémon.
These powers depend on which ingredients you use when making a sandwich.

Where to Find Vinegar
Vinegar can be found very easily in the three main food stalls in the Paldea’s central city of Mesagoza. Head to Mesagoza and check out the stores on the left side of this city. Players need to go to the store called Deli Chioso. Refer to the screenshot below for an exact location of Deli Chioso (black circle on the map).
Deli Chioso can also be found in the Porto Marinada Market, north of the Asado Desert on the western side of Paldea. There are no price differences between these stores supplying this item, the placement of the stores is simply to help players find these ingredients easily to build their sandwiches. Placing these stores in different areas of Paldea means that if a player is near a Mass Outbreak, searching for a Shiny Pokémon then they simply need to travel to their closest store instead of fast travelling to the other side of Paldea.
In this store, players can pick up loads of fresh produce ingredients, such as: Hamburger, Egg, Smoked Fillet and way more. Looking for other ingredients to make meals for your Pokémon? Check out the nearby stalls called Artisan Bakery and Sure Cans. Players can also find this item in the eastern city, Levincia, in a store called Aquiesta Supermarket. In this market, players can find rarer items such as Wasabi, Klawf Stick and Horseradish. In both stalls, Vinegar is sold at 300 Pokémon Dollars.
