How to find the Airlock Key in Signalis

Signalis is a classic psychological horror set in a dystopian universe where humanity has colonised the solar system. When players boot up the game, they will find themselves trapped in a crashed vessel, the pilot nowhere to be found. The only exit is locked, so you’d better find the Airlock Key if you want any chance of escaping. Here is how to find the Airlock Key to escape the Penrose in Signalis.

Finding the Airlock Key in Signalis

Opening the cryogenics chamber

The first thing you’ll want to do is open the cryogenics chamber at the top of the vessel. It’s only a small ship so just keeping walking to the top. The keypad requires a button combination to activate. To find the pattern needed to open it, walk to the south-end of the vessel to the cockpit.

There, hanging on a control panel, is a weathered polaroid picture of someone. Click it to pick it up.

Using ‘tab’ open your inventory, hover over the photo. In the display, it will start to rotate. Wait for it to turn around. At the back of the photo, a grid will appear with red coloured squares. That grid corresponds to the square grid locking the cryochamber.

Go back to the cryochamber and interact with the grid. Click on the squares in the right pattern to open it.

Once you do, the pod will open up, and the liquid will drain. At the bottom of the pod will be the Airlock Key. Or, at least, the Airlock Key in both of its halves. You’ll need to repair it if you want any hope of opening the airlock.

Repairing the Airlock Key

Thankfully, it’s a simple fix. Walk your way into the right room from the middle middle room, where a control panel occupies the top. Go up to the control panel and interact with it. A roll of duct tape will be lying on the counter. Pick it up.

Go back into your inventory. Navigate to the duct tape and hit ‘F’ to access the actions menu. Select ‘combine’. Next, click the broken Airlock Key to combine the two items. This will tape the two halves back together, forming a somehow-functioning Airlock Key.

Escaping the Penrose Vessel in Signalis

However, that is not the end of it. Now that you have the Airlock Key, you can escape the Penrose Vessel. Walk into the airlock, on the left side of the lower room. Keep clicking forwards until you the lock panel is right in front of you. Click on it again to use the Airlock Key.

Then sit back and watch the cutscene as you escape the Penrose.
