How to Exploit “Infinite” Hearts Glitch in Cult of the Lamb

They LOVE me! They REALLY LOVE me!

Is it possible for a new game to have a perfect, glitch-free launch? I couldn’t say, but if the only glitch I encounter after over 20 hours of play is one that gives you free life, there are worse problems to have. In Cult of the Lamb, developed by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, that’s exactly what happened. In fact, the only reason I was able to beat the third and fourth bosses is because of this glitch.

Now — is there a chance this glitch will be patched out once it launches? Yes. It almost certainly will be, unless my internal definition of the word “glitch” is outdated. I very much doubt this to be the case, as my exploitation of this “glitch” made the last two main bosses an absolute joke.

How to Exploit the “Infinite” Hearts Glitch

It’s important to note here that exploiting this glitch won’t actually net you infinite hearts. In fact, I believe it capped out at 48 total hearts. But that should be more than enough to dominate any boss in the game. OK, so in the final stage of an area, when you’re fighting through combat rooms to face the Bishop, there should be one final — non-combat — room. In this room, there’s a portal to take you back to the cult if you’re not ready to face the Bishop. But, there should be a blue heart lying on the ground as you enter.

Grab the blue heart. Leave the final room in the direction of the last combat room. Re-enter. If all goes well, there will be another blue heart lying near the portal. Rinse and repeat as necessary. As mentioned, this can be repeated over and over until you’ve amassed a total of 48 hearts. But, be warned — they will disappear as soon as you return to your cult. You can’t take them with you, unfortunately!
